Will Declare for NBA

Micah Downs Profile

Juanita High (Wash.) 6-8, 195-pound senior small forward Micah Downs, who signed with Kansas in the fall, will bpyass college and declare for the NBA Draft.

According to the Seattle Times, Downs will not sign with an agent. However, his full intent is to head to the NBA from high school.

``We're still talking to people to figure out what we can and cannot do," Steven Downs, Micha's father, told the Seattle Times. "But make no mistake, Micah is formly committed to going to the NBA next year. That is his dream."

``You never really know for sure if you're ready until somebody says you are, but I want to make this happen," Michah Downs added. "I've always wanted to play in the nBA, but I never really thought about making the jump. That came up lately."

MslaCat, I read somewhere last night that the Seattle paper misquoted the Downs. They say that their is a high chance that he will attend Kansas and that they are just looking into declaring as another option. Micah really is looking forward to playing at Kansas, but they must make sure of all the options. MslaCat, I know that when Micah was at Butte High, he and his father were nothing but a pain in the butt. They were mad that every play did not go through him, etc. Funny thing is, Butte High went to the State Championship the year after he left with pretty much the same team. IMO he was a very selfish player, and his father is a pain in the butt also if the entire game was not run through Micah.

Micha has been at 6 schools in 4 years. He transfered schools this year, because his dad wanted him on a higher profile team. As a dad myself, really hope for Micha's sake that his dad starts acting like a dad, and stop tring to be Micha's sport agent. If Micha is that good, he will make his money, how about paying more attention the the boy.

Sounds like his dad is an idiot. This is a classic case where this kid is likely to squander a free college education for a couple of years playing basketball in New Zealand or Turkey followed by an unsuccesful life of should'as.

This kids dad is definitly an idiot. For one I've never heard of this kid in my life, so trying to just jump to the nba  not a wise decision. Lebron James no!!! Kobe bryant  NO!!! Think about your future and the need to be successful in the nba, cause if not, you could end up, and I hate to say it but just like your father...
