I don't look Indian but I am half...Chippewa and Pueblo...
I usually don't get offended by references to specific tribes or to Indians or Braves...tho I find the tomahawk chant to be one of the most annoying chants ever invented. But I think the Redskin thing is absolutely offensive. If anyone ever called me or my family members redskins there would be consequences.

I think a good idea for Jeb and other whites who are so sure that no one is ever offended is to do a simple double blind test. Walk into a bar in Browning and yell out "Any of you _________ in here want a beer?"
For the blank substitute: Braves, Indians, Native Americans, Redskins, etc. See which term gets your ass kicked the worst.
