BobcatLionFan, it looks like Coach has built a program that's going to be a force for years to come. Dang, I'm glad he saved all those redshirts last fall

BUT By position
LB has only King and Lowe back (ONLY?? great start)
DBs - Should be very good (Force, Davis, Fuller, Smith (all to be starters this year)
DL - All the starters back and Matakus might be also. Also all the backups.
OL will have 4 of the top 6 back and good backups ready with only one spot to fill.
QB will have 2 good options (Carpenter and Coppack). Both looking good and will be mature talented Juniors Would probably be starting for the Griz this year?
RB could actually be even better with Groves and Tiato. Both look really good.
TE - ALL back as Red Shirt sophs
WR will have Brown (very good), Roosevelt, and Lulay back. Some TRs would help here.

Seems like a couple of WR transfers and a LB or two and you are gold again. Wouldn't call it without a little talent coming back.

BUT, that is next year and this is NOW when we have the 6 to 10 senior studs. that make this team special.
we have no proven qb - sure the backups look great but have they started a game

One of the O-Lineman told me after Cat/Griz last year that neither Coppack or Carpenter were ready to play in the Big Sky. He hoped that after one more year (this year) they would be. Food for thought.

All you need is one of two to work out. They know the system. Teams would die to be in that position. Then you will also pick up a hotshot QB in the next class.

There is ALWAYS a risk and no they have not started a game over Lulay, but it could be MUCH worse. (Wait it could be like the Griz when Oches left and they had NO ONE ready).

That was when they were Red Shirt Freshmen last year and Carpenter was recoverying from a knee.
Now it will be another full year of experience they are getting watching Lulay.

Just hoping that one comes through during the spring practices. Again, teams would love to have that problem next year. If the coaches feel they are not a solution after this year, they can still find someone as a TR if needed to compete with the two returning. Could be much worse.

I agree with Jah that our starters are probably more talented overall than the Grizzly starters - at least on O. The problem (for us anyways) with the Griz is that their depth is much better. I know everyone always says it but it's the truth. Play the 2nd and for sure the 3rd stringers for both teams against each other and the huge advantage... griz.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
