NAH.....ya think. I would've never thought of that. Money wouldn't have anything to do with it....would it?? Can't be.....DUH.Barton....
He also wondered aloud whether money is the biggest reason there isn't a playoff.
**sarcasm off**

I have a simple solution that would keep the money and the bowls completely unchanged, have a playoff, and only extend the season one week for two teams...but does anyone listen to Meat....NOOOOOOOOO.

Nope. My solution is this....(listen up Presidents, NCAA, and former girlfriends)catatac wrote:Meat - does your solution involve using and naming the playoff games as the actual bowl games? My buddy and I solved the entire problem over beers one night.
Keep the bowls and everything just like it is (actually how it was in the past with the Pac-10/Big 12 champs playing in the Rose bowl, etc), but move them all up one week. There's too much time between games anyway. The four major bowls (BCS) with it's eight teams would be played as is, and the four winners would be seeded and play each other over the next two weekends. This, in a sense, would be like an eight team playoff. Make it to one of these bowl games and you have a chance to be crowned champion.
This would only extend the season one weekend (for two teams), the bowls would keep the money flowing, the fans would be happy, and a "more true" National Champion would be named.
Does that make sense?

Congress should just get on to more important issues. We need a D-1a play-off, but this schtuff they are doing is helping no one. If they wanted to help college sports, they should pass an anti-truss exemeption (like baseball has) for NCAA and institutions that would allow them to:
-Institute profit sharing (as in the NFL)
-Cap the max. $$ a program can spend on a particular sport (including coaches salaries)
-Distrubute bowl game, NCAA tourney funds on a pooled basis.
I can not understand how someone like North Carolina can collect 50-60 mil a year in mens basketball alone while most schools (like MSU
) entire athletic budget is a small fraction of that amount, and still insist that it is "amatuer status".
Pay the athletes or share the wealth. If coaches want multi-Million dollar contracts go to the pros.

Did you know each of the two teams in the SEC Championship game made a min. 7 million each! and will make 3 to 20 mil on a bowl game! But a kid will be suspended / disqualified if a coach (or almost anyone else) by a kid a cup of JAVA at Starbucks! Free market baby, pay them what they are worth!mquast53000 wrote:Communist!mslacat wrote: I can not understand how someone like North Carolina can collect 50-60 mil a year in mens basketball alone while most schools (like MSU
