Seriously as a Bobcat fans would you guys like to see Durham fired? He has remarkable little to show, IMHO, for his tenure in Bozeman. If I were to become the MSU AD tomorrow morning, by tomorrow evening he would be fired.
He seems like a nice guy, I know he is a local and an alum but D1 college basketball is a business, and he is not getting it done. Just my two cents.

I would have a hard time hiring Huse after he spurned a job with MSU (Johnny Browns position) to take the same job in Missoula (his current job)Cat Pride wrote:For the Bobcats, I vote for Brad Huse or Carse at EMC (oops, MSU-B).NavyBlue wrote:Hire the UVSC coach, wait a minute maybe MSU should first....
Hell, I'd hire the local 3rd grade YMCA coach if that meant Durham was gone next year.

That is a good point, and I dont know the reasoning behind Brad's decision... but...mslacat wrote:I would have a hard time hiring Huse after he spurned a job with MSU (Johnny Browns position) to take the same job in Missoula (his current job)Cat Pride wrote:For the Bobcats, I vote for Brad Huse or Carse at EMC (oops, MSU-B).NavyBlue wrote:Hire the UVSC coach, wait a minute maybe MSU should first....

In all honesty, I wouldnt want to be an assistant on Mick's staff either. Maybe Brad didnt want to come back to the exact same situation he left at MSU in ('97??? maybe '98???). Back then Brad was an up and coming assistant with a program generating a lot of momentum.
Now he'd come back as an assistant coach to a stagnant program for a head coach who has little or no spark/fire/passion for the game, and is apparently in no desire to improve his situation or even see an end to Micks tenure in sight. At best I'd consider it a lateral move for Brad to leave MSU in the mid-late 90s and come back to the same position in the mid '00s.
I've met Brad quite a number of times (when at Tech, MSU and recently again at UM) and really like the guy, think he would make an amazing head coach at this level. Besides that, he has MT connections (Howard, etc). I would hope Fields doesnt hold a grudge against Huse because he didnt want to work on Micks staff again.
If I were Huse, I'd say, "hey, I couldnt come back to the same situation I was in 8 years ago, but I can come back if it means taking the reigns of this fledgling program and turn this thing around!"

Fine take a job with ISU, Weber or what ever but when you turn down MSU to take a job at UM = Bridge + FirePonycat wrote:I think when your an coach trying to crack into a head job in D1 you get all the different experience you can.
That said though if Krysco left UM tomorrow I actually might look to promote Huse before Tinkle, if it was up to me!

I don't think that Huse had or has his mind set on being the head MSU coach. Coaching under a former NBA player who coached professionally seems pretty logical to me.mslacat wrote:Fine take a job with ISU, Weber or what ever but when you turn down MSU to take a job at UM = Bridge + FirePonycat wrote:I think when your an coach trying to crack into a head job in D1 you get all the different experience you can.

I completely agree with Huse over Tinkle.
The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.

Huse graduated from Missoula Big Sky and has a lot of family still in Missoula. I think my younger sister knew him quite well in there high school days...... or was that his brother!? I tell you folks when you get old your memory is the second thing to go.Hell's Bells wrote:nope to be honest i dont blame him for taking the job at mizzou...he seems to have missoula rootsmslacat wrote:Fine take a job with ISU, Weber or what ever but when you turn down MSU to take a job at UM = Bridge + FirePonycat wrote:I think when your an coach trying to crack into a head job in D1 you get all the different experience you can.
