Coach K to Pepperdine??

Post by HelenaCat95 » Wed Apr 12, 2006 1:13 pm

****Rumor Alert********

Just heard a rumor (actually heard that it was reported on the radio in Missoula) that Coach Krystowiak was offered and accepted the Pepperdine HC job.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

I had heard ealier today that Pepperdine expected to make a choice Friday at the earliest but most likely the first of next week. I have not heard anything else day.

It is not even a good rumor, the radio report was that he was interviewing, not that he had been offerred and accepted.

Thanks for the update.
That's why I put the question marks, the "****rumor alert***, and the question on confirm on deny. I wasn't real sure. Now we know.

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised at this decision. Of course, if the Griz have another good season, there could be some high-profile programs with openings after next season.

Ernie Kent is on thin ice at Oregon, Jay John has struggled at Oregon State, and Utah could be looking as well.

Great news for the Big Sky.

I am happy to see Coach K stay, though with this little fiasco it makes me think he will jump ship at the next best opportunity that comes his way.

Still, I love seeing good competition in the Big Sky, and I hope MSU, Weber, ISU and UNC can all be competitive with new HCs next year.

CC, just curious. Why do you think this situation was a fiasco? It sounds as though LK withdrew his name from consideration, so it's not as though he was out begging for jobs he didn't get. Of course LK will eventually take a "big-time" job, and I don't think anyone can fault him for looking into the Pepperdine job. In fact, I respect him for doing so, then looking at the job and realizing it wasn't a good fit for him.

Fiasco was a bit strong. But it has got to be a little unnerving for this to happen every single offseason for the Griz.

It is incredibly unnerving, to experience this every season. Last year it was Bobby Hauck to San Diego State, this year its Larry K to Pepperdine. I hope that multi year contracts are approved, that way coaches will have a little more incentive to stay for more seasons (I don't have any false hopes that many coaches will be like Selvig, and stay at Montana, even when they could move up).

I did not state that very well. I wonder if this will hurt us or help us in the long run.
