Derek Selvig playing for AAU Oregon Panthers

I realise this may not have a lot to do with "Bobcat" basketball/sports but I found this interesting. Derek Selvig is said to be a Pac-10 / Big Ten talent, but has been good here in Montana but has not dominated. I have been wondering/thinking that he really need to have a good spring and summer to get some high major offers (my opinion), but have not been able to find out if he will be playing AAU ball this spring like Bobby Howard is. Well he is. He is playing for the Portland Panther out of Oregon. This is the same team that Travis Derochowski and Corey Davis played for (no real meaning behind that just cooinsidence). This is what the head coach of the team Reggie Guyton has to say about Derek.

Guyton has always managed to bring on board some talent from out-of-state - Artem Wallace and Robert Sacre are recent examples - and this year is no different. Derek Selvig is a 6-foot-10 talent out of Glendive Dawson County High School in Montana who Guyton simply can't stop talking about. He's an extremely versatile performer who is going to play all five positions for the Panthers on the circuit. College coaches have already come out en force to Montana to watch him work out, and it should be no different at every AAU tournament the Panthers hit.

"Deric is probably one of the most complete basketball players I've ever had in my program," Guyton said. "He has great floor vision and he shoots the ball extremely well. At 6-foot-10, it's impressive the way he defends the perimeter too. After this summer, you'll see him going to a high-major program."

The team will feature two other 6-10 centers/forward (both should Start) so Derek should be able to play the wing.
