Haha, right?catatac wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:00 pmI noticed that too... and that's the first time I've seen anyone in that program make the 1-0 mentality reference this season. I also thought it odd that Bobby forced the 2QB deal most of the season, because the Cats were successful running the 2QB system. What's the old saying about imitation and flattery?

Had to laugh at eGriz this morning. After spending all season questioning how good MSU was because they "hadn't played anyone", they finally decided to stop flinging stones towards the glass house and look at their own schedule for 2025, which includes 8 home games and zero non-conference away games. They're very excited to have a bunch of playoff home games next year as they quite correctly realize that even an average team can go 10-2 with their fluffy cupcake of a schedule!

I know they renewed Bobby's contract, and he's essentially a god over there in many fan's minds, but at what point does the negative press, which likely led to poor recruiting numbers, become an issue over there that creates some pressure on him to change what he's doing or get fired? With the total switch of state "power" to MSU over the past few years, on almost everything Cat-Griz related, that's got to cause the president and AD to be thinking that the ship is, if not sinking, then certainly full of alot of leaks. Since football has been their bread and butter for the athletics programs, it's got to start there I'd think.
Honestly, it doesn't affect me at all. I think what's been happening at MSU and the success is awesome, and if they continue to plummet, so what. But it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, changes.

They sold a record number of season tickets but the 12K that went to the turkey day game was the lowest total in a very long time. I think if the season tix renewal next year is lackluster, that's the type of thing that could heat up the seat a little. If they start getting low numbers for home games due to poor team performance. Those are the kind of things that forces a AD's hand.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:54 pmI know they renewed Bobby's contract, and he's essentially a god over there in many fan's minds, but at what point does the negative press, which likely led to poor recruiting numbers, become an issue over there that creates some pressure on him to change what he's doing or get fired? I don't pay attention to griz media (I get 99% of my info on them from BN) but is he really getting negative press? I've watched a couple of the more entertaining press conferences but outside of people watching those does the content get distributed to the wider public or does it get whitewashed by the griz media stooges?nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:54 pmI know they renewed Bobby's contract, and he's essentially a god over there in many fan's minds, but at what point does the negative press, which likely led to poor recruiting numbers, become an issue over there that creates some pressure on him to change what he's doing or get fired? When I scroll through Google, which like all internet, feeds you things you've shown interest in, there have been several articles, from 406 Sports to NBC Sports, etc. addressing the griz struggles this season. My thought is if parents of future recruits are seeing these articles too, wouldn't it be reflected in how many change their minds on UM?coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 4:38 pmI don't pay attention to griz media (I get 99% of my info on them from BN) but is he really getting negative press? Makes sense. I just didn't know if the struggles were making it to "print" or were mostly confined to social media (which itself would probably be enough these days if the right accounts were involved).nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 4:48 pmWhen I scroll through Google, which like all internet, feeds you things you've shown interest in, there have been several articles, from 406 Sports to NBC Sports, etc. addressing the griz struggles this season. I will say that the hand wringing across the SkylineSports radio/podcast network has been entertaining over the past month.
