Good recruiter, could not really win the big game, sold kids on success and move up. Not sure that will work at FBS. Took to many chances for my liking.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 12:59 pmHe's very aggressive in his play calling and it sometimes comes back to haunt him. Overall really good coach and New Mexico got a good one

NM is a very difficult place to find success. Hope Eck can pull it off. Good man.

I base it off of how I think I would feel if that coach went to coach for the Gris. Would I feel dread if the Gris hired Eck and he had the Gris resources? Absolutely

I'm just a little curious if the team knew before last night that he was leaving. Not that it necessarily affected how they played, some teams rally hard for a well loved coach, but knowing everything was changing the next day, that had to affect them somewhat. Clearly Eck asked NM to wait to announce until after the game, which was the right thing to do.

I don't think it affected them much even if they knew, they were hanging right in there with the Bobcats for most of the 1st half until the weird onside kick went against them followed immediately by the weird fumble. It's interesting to watch their post-game press conference though, it does almost seem like the players are just going through the motions talking about "next year" because they know or at least strongly suspect there won't be one for them (at Idaho).nanacat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:18 pmI'm just a little curious if the team knew before last night that he was leaving. Idaho has had some frankly terrible stuff in their athletic department the last few years so this shouldn’t surprise anyone. It’s bad because having another solid football member in the conference is great for MSU and the Big Sky. They need to fix some things otherwise it could be back to the dark ages for them.

Yeah, it’s too bad…. Having a competitive Idaho program is great for the big sky….. I’m worried they might be looking like cal poly next year.
