Coastal Carolina to Offer Free Concessions
https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... oncessions
Interesting idea at Coastal Carolina for the upcoming football season, as it appears that they are offering unlimited free concessions (hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and soft drinks) to all fans. I assume the idea is to use the free concessions as a "loss leader" to drive increased ticket sales and sales of paid concessions (i.e. BEER) once they get fans in the door. MSU would presumably have no need for this kind of promotion as they're already selling out games as it is and alcohol consumption inside the stadium is very limited at this time to the point that most fans don't bother with it and just drink outside.

Could be wrong but I think this is legit. CCU is kind of known for crazy promotions to drum up fan support. They did a thing with their hoops teams where if the men and women combined for like 35 wins all season ticket holders got a full refund. I don't think the teams won that many but it was an interesting idea.Montanabob wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:15 pmDUDE......MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:31 amhttps://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... oncessions

I don’t remember who it is but their founder / first football coach is a real life Mr. Moneybags.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:22 pmCould be wrong but I think this is legit. The university's athletic department is partnering with its concessionaire, Aramark, to introduce the 'CCU Kickoff Meal Deal: Every Football Game, Every Fan, Always Free.' This allows ticket buyers to get four items per concession stand visit, from a selection of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and fountain drinks.

I suspected the same at first but they actually announced it yesterday according to the story. Seems legit to me and probably a really good idea to sell a lot more tickets especially to families who'd probably have to spend $50 or more to feed everyone otherwise.Montanabob wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:15 pmDUDE......MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:31 amhttps://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... oncessions

Bobcat behavior is not going to change regarding tailgating. I know quite a few folks who enjoy the tailgate better than the game. MUCH better. Ha ha

Definitely not, I'm sure MSU is bringing in millions in revenue every year selling season tickets and tailgate spots to people who couldn't care less about what's happening on the football field. Some of them sit near me...at least for part of the first half of each game.

In 2023, 23 states show more than one in three adults (35%) has obesity. Before 2013, no state had an adult obesity prevalence at or above 35%. Currently, at least one in five adults (20%) in each U.S. state is living with obesity.

Just from what I see, it has to be a greater number, surprised at the 35%. I weighed 196 about three weeks ago, am 6' 1". Not close to obese but am very self-conscious about my belly/waistline and my wranglers. Now down to 192 and dropping slowly. I have a niece that must weigh 400#, Patti thinks low to mid 300s. Needs crutches, walker... Her knees are shot, Dr's say lose a bunch and we can fix you.
It is really a sad situation...

You're not wrong but I've always kind of had an issue with the scale on what is "overweight" and "obese". With the numbers you gave, that's about 26 BMI which is considered overweight. If you somehow pack on another 20 pounds over the years you're "obese". I too, according to the scale am considered overweight at 5'10, 180. And while I could certainly drink less and eat better, I'm active and never really thought of myself as overweight.RickRund wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 12:40 pmJust from what I see, it has to be a greater number, surprised at the 35%. My girlfriend just started with a personal trainer. After multiple back surgeries she gained a little weight. She's 5'4 and tiny to me. Was an active runner and biker. Shes very healthy and a doctor so she takes care of herself. Her initial numbers were 27 BMI which is overweight and just 3 points shy of "obese". I guess I just have never bought into that. I think I just have a different view of overweight and obese by my own eye test.

He brought his team to missoula a few years back in the playoffs, and whipped those teddy bears pretty good, shocking most all of the gris fans, who still whine about that loss to this day.
He decked out his team with top end thermal gear before hand as it was a cold snowy rainy day. He came prepared and had his team prepared to play, execute and win. One hell of a coach and even better American financial Icon and entrepreneur. I personally would love to have that kind of guy someday show up at Montana State University. All he has ever done in life is win.

Definitely wasn’t rainy. I was as at that game. I don’t remember the exact temps, but it was within 10 degrees above or below zero. -10 sticks out in my mind, but I could easily be wrong. I think it might’ve been the coldest game I’ve ever been to.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 3:54 pmJoe Moglia, the former chairman and CEO of TD Ameritrade. CC was very well prepared for the cold. It was impressive. Very organized in terms of getting coats on players and warm drinks in hand every second off the field.
UM players, mostly linemen, came out in short sleeves and really played up the tough guy routine. It bit them in the butt. There is no feasible way when a human body is using energy simply to keep warm, can operate at maximum efficiency for an entire game. UM seemed to wear down as the game went on and CC just kept performing.

I remember watching that game on TV and being amazed at how Coastal Carolina looked like the team used to cold and snow while UM looked like the team from down south. Griz fans were convinced all week leading up to the game (and I can't say I disagreed) that Coastal had no chance in those weather conditions, and we were all dead wrong.tdub wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:26 amDefinitely wasn’t rainy. That’s what stood out to me too. I completely thought UM was gonna blow them out of the water, kinda like the MSU and William and Mary game was a couple years ago. Such a massive flip of the script where UM looked frigid and CC didn’t.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:39 amI remember watching that game on TV and being amazed at how Coastal Carolina looked like the team used to cold and snow while UM looked like the team from down south.
