That being said, I am sensing that my noble (I thought) experiment was doomed to failure from the start, unless I wanted to micromanage the entire process with lots of deleted posts and constant clarifications. I don't think this medium works very well for what I was hoping to do. It's kind of like the herding cats commercial (no pun intended) from Super Bowls past.
The problem with your experiment is that there is no "DNA" There's not been one post from anyone that answers your question "I'm personally overwhelmed and confused as to what exactly Hauck has and hasn't said over the last couple years in terms of MSU"

The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

All I can say is How big of a Jerk can Bobby be if an ex cat player that coaches West High lets his kid go play for Bobby. Enough said. Yes, the cats offered.

Funny, I didn't know the coach made the decision for a player about where he chooses to go to college. Enough said.

When the coach happens to be the kid's Dad, I'd say they have a little bit of influence. And otherwise, certainly advise from a respected coach will be considered along with a hundred other things.
People seem to forget that teams have more than one coach. Bobby isn't the only coach on the team, and some of the others are very well respected across the state, and some others are also very good recruiters.

Not completely disagreeing with you Jah, but I would say that ultimately the decision was Klaboe's to make - his dad wasn't going to tell him where to go. I would guess the "hundred other things" probably played a big part in his decision.

"Until about five minutes ago when we found out who we were playing, I was still really down after the (Montana) State game,'' Hauck said. "It's exciting to have someone else and something else to focus on instead of what happened (Saturday).''

"Right now, I'm just pretty bitter," Hauck said.
"It was a bad day to give a game away," Hauck said.

I think what University of Montana coach Bobby Hauck said about the Bobcats or Montana State is not right: "They don't deserve Montana in their name."

First of all, we're all from Montana, whether we're Cats or Griz fans. In the Missoulian, Hauck couldn't even give the Cats a single compliment. He called the two touchdowns gifts. The Cats have worked on those kinds of things all year. MSU has one of the best kick return/punt return teams in the league. The Cats have one of the best defenses in the Big Sky Conference. They have top-of-the-line cornerbacks. They also pressured Greg Ochs and caused him to throw two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown. Another reason why the Cats won is Travis Lulay threw smart passes. The whole Cats team played their hearts out.

I think Hauck should at least give them a few compliments. Kramer did. The best motivational speech the Bobcats received was from Griz coach Hauck. "They don't deserve Montana in their name." Really?

"They were both gifts," Hauck said. "Without those two plays, I don't think I'm sitting here in the mood I'm in."
I thought I'd throw this little tidbit in here for idiots like Bozgriz, jagur, and theblackgecko who always like to think the only game that matters to us Cats is the Cat-friz game.
http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2003 ... orts01.txt
"It's the biggest game of the year,'' he said. "I've always told people I'd rather go 1-11 and beat the Cats than go 11-1 and lose to them.''

I'm sure that others will come up with plenty more examples, all in good time.
Wow, guess BH can visit you for a lesson in class...

Not one thing in this thread is demeaning to the cats. In fact, most of it simply shows a coach who was disappointed he lost the biggest game of the conference season...and I'm ok with that. Frankly, this is just a bunch of cat fans fishing for complements for their program.

Funny, I don't remember Cliff saying all kinds of gooey things after losing to the Griz...

When did he say that? If he did, I will agree with you, that is not cool...however, it is written above as hearsay from a cat fan in a letter to the editor, hardly criminal evidence...

As for goofy remarks, ok, I can live with that. I am, like a lot of posters here, enjoy stirring the pot a little...

Bobby has always had trouble with the PR part of being a head coach. He just doesn't know how to deal with the media, which will kill a new head coach. This comes from his inexperience, which is the reason he should have never been hired in the first place.

Kramer is also a PR challenge. Yet, as a long time sales representative, Kramer is as slick as a minnow's dick. He knows how to push the right buttons with the media to achieve his goals. He is a master at using psychological warfare with the opponent, as well as using it to motivate his team.

He's like a cagy fox. Bobby, on the other hand, is so droll that he puts me to sleep. If he and Mich Dennehy ever got together, it would be a bore-off for certain....kinda like watching paint dry.

And, Kramer LOOKS like a football coach. Bobby looks like a weekend golfer, who wouldn''t know a football field from a badminton court. And, i'm a Griz fan! 8)

LMAO about your Hauck/Dennehy comment. Ain't that the truth!

I don't know Bobby. I know Mick quite well, and while he's got the public personality of wet dish rag, on a personal level he can be somewhat engaging.

On the other hand, though, "Powder River - let 'er buck", got equally tiresome.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.
