Any guesses at UM's seeding?

It hasn't been that long, Weber was a #12 seed 3 years ago when they played Wisconsin in the tournament.
Weber had a 27-4 record that year and didn't lose a game in the 'Sky, if I recall properly.

Suppose it's tough to compare this year's Griz team to that Weber state team in terms of deserving high seeds. Montana probably got a bump from having been in the tourney last year, plus the familiarity of Coach K. The media loves that guy!
Does he not deserve it?

My mistake...for some reason I thought the undefeated Weber team was a 13, not a 12. Still very impressive for UM to get a 12...how things changed in the Big Sky from last year to this year.
I thought for sure that Weber was a 13 that year and that was the highest a Big Sky team had even been seeded. I'm with rtb - it would be okay if the Jizzlies won, but in no uncertain circumstances would you ever find me rooting for them. Go Wolfpack!!!

I recall, because that #12 seed seems to be the magic number for tourney upsets; however, I thought Weber got the worst matchup of the #12 seeds that year. Wisconsin was the Big 10 regular season champs. I thought a #5 was a little low for them.

You're right things have changed. Last year the Big Sky was rated 30th in RPI, this year the conference is 17th -- pretty good improvement. The conference could be tough next year also: NAU was fairly young this year with only 2 seniors. EWU had only 1 senior and of course Stuckey is back. Sac St. is building a new facility and has some great players back including frosh Loren Leif. UM has Strait, Dloughy, Ellis, and Hasket back. Big Sky should be pretty competitive again next year.

I can't root for the griz, thus my FTG sig, but I really can't believe that they got a 12 seed. Go Nevada!!

Ain't it remarkable...former Big Sky members Nevada is a 5 seed and Gonzaga is a 3 seed. Both those programs have really taken over the west-outside of the top two or three in the Pac-10 they're probably the top 2 in the west. I watched the Mountain West Conference championship game last night-wow that league has is way down-neither Wyoming or San Diego State looked very good.

Nevada is beatable-though they have a 16 game winning streak going. Didn't that terrible Idaho team lose to the Wolf Pack by four only two nights after losing by 10 to the not quite as terrible Bobcats? Also, didn't Sac State give Nevada a pretty tough game early in the season?

Ah give it a shot RTB... it's been scientifically proven to add 3-6 inches to a man's jah-hofinater... bringing us griz fans to 9- 12" .

Seriously though. I would pull for the cats if the shoe were on the other foot. I think that's because some of my family are MSU grads. Or maybe because I'm always going to be a Montana boy... even out here in Seattle.

The only reason I can't is I lived in the Flathead during the streak. I was 4 the last time the Cats beat the Griz in football during the streak so having that shoved down my throat year in and year out made me VERY BITTER! With our recent success on the football field I am coming around, plus I have had the chance to meet Larry K several times and truly respect the job he has done. Give me a couple more football victories and I will be able to root for the Griz if Coach K is their coach. Just not yet!

When the Cats ended the streak, a Cat fan was running down the north endzone and I think he was headed towards the field but my friends dad told him "go get on the field, your team deserved it"

and then he said

"I havent seen the Cats win since I was 4"

I wanted to shoot myself that day, worst day in my life.

The beauty of sports, one of the best days of my life was one of your worst days and it was all over a game! Isn't it great?!?

True true... I love the Celtics, but my life has been hell since Coke Boy sniffed too hard, since Larry "the God" Bird's back could take no more, and Reggie Lewis's crushing collapse and death happened (Reggie was top three in scoring, put up rebounds, give-me's etc.). One thing that keeps me smiling though... who's got 16? The Celtics.
