The reason that Sac and PSU have a "veto" over who gets in is simple. Neither NDSU or SDSU will be eligible for playoffs (read BB eligibility) for a few more years. This means that if Sac or PSU get pissed and bail from the Big Sky, there would be a major danger that the conference would fall below the required number of PLAYOFF ELIGIBLE schools to maintain the NCAA BB autobid. Once NDSU and SDSU are playoff eligible the tables will turn. As for now.........Doug Fullerton gave us a lump of coal in our stocking for Christmas. Maybe the Midcon will come calling...

Let me throw this out
Here is a thought.
How about letting the University of Idaho back into the BSC. They have made one of the worst moves in NCAA history by trying to move up and compete at the 1-A level, as the world has seen. They don't even have their own stadium for football, and what ever happened to the NCAA league rule of you HAD to average right at or near 30,000 per home football game? No way UI has EVER come close to that.
At least when they were in the Big Sky it was always a good game in both hoops and football, now their program is a joke, maybe good old Doug should consider that??
No way Boise State would ever come back, they have got to be one of the few 1-AA teams who have made the jump quite nicely. Nevada on the other hand, still trying to figure them out at least in football at the 1-A level, but with their big time $$$$ they have in the city, that's about the only thing keeping them above water, for as they sure don't come close to selling out their football games either.

Idaho will be moving to the WAC, with BSU, USU and Nevada, so they must be pretty happy now. It seems the NCAA has modified the stadium requirement, so schools such as Idaho and USU are not much threatened now. I suspect both schools will be pretty well situated. In the long run, the best thing might be for The MSU and um to go to the WAC, too.

Velo, what do mean about USU being ok as far as a stadium requirement goes. USU has a stadium, that has plan in motion for upgrades. Due, to putting in chair back seats a few years ago capacity fell below 30,000 but the will be corrected.
And according to the NCAA we met the 15,000 average requirement. And we will no doubt continue to with the WAC move.
I would love to see both UM and MSU join the Aggies in the WAC, I posted a link in a thread aboce where the NCAA is thinking over just making all football schools D1 which would IMHO, (sorry Bozeman Chronicle) make that more likely to happen.
