Another Former AAD from MSU a Finalist
Calli Saunders is one of the five finalists for the U of M AD job. Calli is a former MSU assistant AD. What the H_LL is wrong with these people. She is from Gt. Falls and should know better.
And talk about picking a women to be on the list just to say you have a women on the list. I know Calli Saunders and that is exactly what is happening here.

How dare a U of M grad with solid qualifications dare apply for the job. She should be home makin' babies or at least making dinner. I know Calli, too....she'll likely be an AD somewhere, sometime in the future.gtapp wrote:Calli Saunders is one of the five finalists for the U of M AD job. Calli is a former MSU assistant AD. BTW Mr. Tapp, "women" is plural...are you single? Thought so.
I also like how (in another thread) you bust on Bruce Parker for considering the job. Let's see....you have 20 years experience in a highly specialized field....you leave the job you held for years (MSU) to get even more experience (Carrol) and then a rare D-I AD job opens up 100 miles away in a conference you have detailed knowledge of...Yep, he sure was a damn traitor to apply. What kind of a real man wants a big challenge, more responsibility and a chance to make more money?

To me it is about character. There will always be opportunities if your are good at what you do. To be a BOBCAT for years (in Bruce's case much longer than Calli) and then apply to U of M even with a stop in between shows a lack of character to me. It says that it is all about money and opportunity. I would say the same if a U of M staff member applied for a job at the MSU. I can't believe U of M would even consider them. Lets see; you worked against us for years and now you want to work with us. How would you trust this person?I also like how (in another thread) you bust on Bruce Parker for considering the job. As far as a women appling for the job, I have no problem with that. When I knew Calli I really liked her but she was not qualified to be AD. Maybe she has developed a lot in the last few years but hard to imagine that much development that fast. The bottom line: when one women shows up on your list of five, and she used to work for MSU and she has never been an AD you don't have to reach that far to wonder about their motives.

One more example:
I worked for a medical device company called Medtronic for years (about 20K employees ww). Just a few miles away was a competing company called Guidant with about half as many employees. These companies were at a similar level of competition as MSU and U of M. A large number of jobs were at or above the pay scale of AD positions in the BSC plus the bonuses were very large. Even with all of the movement between medical device companies I never met or heard of a single person who went from Guidant to Medtronic or vice versa. It was an unwritten rule that you did not go from Guidant to Medtronic or Medtronic to Guidant and each company had little interest in each others employees even though they were perfectly trained for the positions. And there was nothing legal holding them back because of "right to work" laws.
Even at a corporate level where you would not expect the same intensity of a rivalry as you see between MSU and U of M you still have an expectation placed upon you and everyone honored that expectation. It just wasn't done.
