Reported by a Seattle fan that heard on a Seattle radio sports show that Craig Chambers is leaving Washington and will transfer to a I-AA. He was recruited by Bobby Hauck and the sports radio guy mentioned a connection to Hauck as the reason for suspecting that he'll go to Montana.

I've contributed to the same thread over on ejizz. I've seen the kid play for the last couple of years and when his head is on straight, he's an absolutely amazing receiver. If he transfers and is successful on the field, you won't find many secondaries that will even be able to compete with him on the I-AA level.

The kid is awesome but he brings a lot of baggage. He's also from the Slick Rick Neuiheisel school of discipline and with Ty Willingham at the helm, I"m sure they butted heads the entire year.

He dropped a lot of passes this year but he also can catch passes with the best of them.

Head case though and his mom has a ton of involvement with his life. She's always calling KJR (the Husky sports homer radio station in Seattle) badmouthing the coach and giving the woe is my son story.

If he transfers and gets a decent distance away from his mom, he will torch secondaries in I-AA. We'll see if they can get their mitts on a QB who can effectively throw to him though.

i'm just curious about those griz fans who complained about the Cats having less Montana boys the the griz.

I remember hearing similar reports about a receiver from Notre Dame last year that went to the griz. What was his name?

Ronnie Rodamer. What a bust. How about Eric Allen, Bobby's "big-time" WR transfer from OSU? What a waste of space on the football field. Who cares if this kid goes to UM! Washington had a terrible football team, and we probably would have had a hell of a shot at beating them even with their 20+ extra scholarships (no offense lifeloyal ). This kid may be talented, but he certainly brings some baggage. Bobby Hauck hasn't exactly shown the ability to identify good offensive talent thus far, and I'm not really too worried about him now. Besides, who is going to throw him the ball?!

I guess if they really want to make him dangerous, they'll move him to running back and shovel pass the hell out of their opponents!

Really what good is a wide reciever on the griz team. They could have Randy Moss and I wonder if he would get 3 catches a game!!!!!!!!

as a cat fan, when my head coach is kramer, i'm too scared to judge how much other coaches talk up in-coming players. he's better than he was, but krames still likes to make everyone of our guys seem like they flipped a coin between going to usc, or msu, and we just got lucky! remember what marcel whats-his-name/worst ever was supposed to be ht emost explosive rb the big sky has ever seen? coaches exagerate, and player either meet expectations, or fall on their face!

wow..that was very poor typing! i'd like to take a second and apologize for any headaches i may have given anyone trying to read my previous post.

Looks like the kid is having second thoughts, plus it doesn't sound like he is that disciplined (BH's type of guy). Could be another bust in the making. He did lead UW in TD's and was second in catches and YDS this year despite limited playing time. Even though UW was horrible this year, it looks like the kid has some talent if he can just get his head screwed on right. Maybe he is waiting to see if BH gets the SDSU job?

This kid sounds like a real headache:

Early this season, Chambers' mother Susan called KJR-AM to discuss -- on air -- her son's disappointment in his playing time. Coach Tyrone Willingham said the reason was others were practicing better than Chambers.

But he wasn't on the two-deep depth chart for the season opener against Air Force, with coaches explaining that he wasn't working hard enough in practice, and barely played.

Rodamer was a bust. Allen has yet to become a standout, and Chambers has yet to make a decision. Do we need to delve into the cat tranfers that have been busts?
Transfers are hit or miss, just as HS players are, and I know the Griz have had their fair share of H.S. guys who haven't lived up to expectations. I can think of a few still on the team, and still getting hyped.
Kramer rolls the dice on transfer more than Hauck, so far.
Heck, look at how Dominick and Morris looked on paper, and a few cat WR's, athletic as they were, just couldn't catch the ball.
Then look at walkons who've made an impact. Recruiting ain't easy, and really isn't easy in I-AA. We don't have 85 chances to build a team from.
Anyway. I think Chambers could be a good get for the Griz. He's proven is what I like. Attitude, isht, I can think of some H.S. kids with attitude too.
Neither team can claim superiority in anything lately, unless you look just at win/loss, or stats. Stats count for isht, win/loss is what counts, but still doesn't prove anything other than who was a better team on that day.
Kramer's is going to pull some nice looking transfers, you can bet on it. I hope Hauck does to. We've got a nice base coming back, but need some playmakers on O. The cats need to fill the void of some playmakers, and get them in line with their system fast.
No proven WRs, or QB's back for the cats. And average WR's back for the Griz.
Personally I love it, speculating on recruits is some fun isht. I even like to eyeball the cat recruits. Kramer is an interesting cat, it will be real interesting to see what kind of rabbit he pulls out of his hat.
Hauck, I think, is feeling some nice pressure, which I think is a good thing. Gotta keep a guy honest.
Anyway, just got back from watching the Griz handle stanford, had a few too many beers, so accept my appologies for my ramble fest.

I hate it when reputable papers like the PI screw up the Division I thing:

"Chambers has two seasons of eligibility remaining and would have to sacrifice one of those years if he were to transfer to another Division I program."


What is that?? Division I-AA is division one. Hell, it says it right in the freakin' name.

It's official. He has left the team. He hasn't talked to anyone about where he might transfer to, but in the premium article I read, he mentioned the line coach at um (Kaligis). We'll see where this is headed.....
