Dakotas moving towards Mid-Con

Post by WYOBISONMAN » Fri Dec 02, 2005 8:54 am

The conference search for NDSU and SDSU may well be drawing to a close with what was in this latest article from the Fargo Forum. It seems that NDSU and SDSU are now leaning heavily towards the Mid-Con. Here is the link....

Here is a bit of the article......

Mid-Con looks more reasonable

Jeff Kolpack, The Forum

"One by one, the conference direction for NDSU is going away from the Big Sky and toward the Mid-Con. Getting the Big Sky to agree to a12-team, two-division setup – which is the only way NDSU will be admitted – seems too complicated.

Getting the Mid-Con to move north to NDSU and SDSU is more realistic."

I think most everybody in Bobcat Nation wants to see NDSU and SDSU in this conference. If we kick out Sac St. and put in the 2 schools mentioned here, it would be a 10 team conference which would be great for basketball. Why not? I can see why NDSU and SDSU would want to be in a conference. Outside of football, the D-I independent has a terrible time finding games.

GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan! :) =D^ \:D/

The problem w/ getting them in is that most of the current Big Sky presidents realize they would compete in every sport immediately and they don't want that. Even though their stance is a detrement to the conference, it is a positive for their programs, and the number of presidents who have the conference at heart are outnumbered by those who don't.

The best thing to do would be to kick Sac St, Portland St, and NAU out and add NDSU, SDSU, & UNC (who's already in).
