I brought this over from another thread, because it got lost in that thread and I wanted to see other's opinions on it.
Let me start by saying that I am not opposed to transfers, or to JC recruits....whether it is Swogger, or somebody else - as long as they can perform on the field, and are positive in the community.
However, I've got to say that if you use "Griz logic", as evidenced by posts in the past, then the Griz program is in trouble. They are all very excited about a possible WR transfer from UW that has NFL ability, they might get a QB transfer (Swogger), and now they are touting the fact that they might get a Louisville RB transfer - this in addition to Washington at QB and Eric Allen at WR, others in the past (Ochs, Justin Green, etc).
Now many Griz posters have criticized Kramer in the past for getting a lot of transfers and drop-downs for the Cat program, and have used that as "evidence" that the MSU program is in "trouble". So, is the Griz program in trouble?
This is not intended as smack, but as a serious conversation starter.
What say you?

Griz land pair of I-A transfers
http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2005 ... orts01.txt
I found this article from last year and thought it was interesting that Washington and Allen were being touted as instant fixes for inexperienced QB and WR positions at UM and look where they are at now, in the same position looking for the next fix. Will Swogger and Chambers be the next Craig Ochs or Joe Douglas, or will they turn into this year's Washington and Allen???
It seems over the past ten years the Grizzlies have always had a good mix of upper and lower classmen. When you have to constantly rely on transfers, it is a sign you aren't recruiting well at the high school level and probably not going to be consistently successful. That said, it's all about winning and getting the best players possible. Kramer has done a decent job of bringing a mix of I-A and JC transfers to plug holes at WR, DB, and DL. To take things to the next level we need consist production from more HS recruits for four years.

first, Kramer is a much better recruiter than Hauck. If Kramer had the luxury of facility advantages, large fan base, and tradition of playing for the NC that Hauck enjoys, Hauck would never get a top kid from Montana again.
second, yes, the Griz program is in trouble. Hauck has failed to recruit quality skill position players. He has failed to recruit IAA calibre QBs. His IA drop-downs have been disasters. His program is in trouble. But the funniest thing us, the Griz sugar coaters don't even know it yet. They are in denial.
