What's the big deal with Mack Brown voting USC #1 and his team #2? USC should be number 1 and Texas should be number 2 until USC loses. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's like it's a sin for Mack Brown to do this. Heaven forbid someone would do the right thing these days.

No kidding. USC is #1 until someone proves otherwise. We shall see on Jan. 4!

Not to mention it would be bulletin board material if he said his team was better than USC. I would say it is good coaching & a wise move by Brown.

The really funny part about Brown doing this (along with his brother) is that the previous week (private voting) Texas had 9 1st place votes. In the final poll (public release of vote), Texas had 7 1st place votes.

Now, I'm no math major, but subtract the two Brown votes from the number 9 and tell me what what number you come up with.

I agree, the fact this is even a news story is crazy to me!

The fact of the matter remains....those numbers don't mean anything, but the great thing is we get to find out who the real national champion is this year, unlike most in the BCS.

And on a side note.....TEXAS will be the champion. HOOK 'EM HORNS!! :D

I don't know about you guys, but I always root for the Trojan's. They work 98% of the time. :)

I already have enough wagers placed on the game, I probably shouldn't add one more to the list. I know it will be very difficult for Texas to win, but this is the first time they have had a legitimate shot in so long that I have to enjoy it while I can.

Vince Young will carry them to victory!!

That's right! Go Horns! The defenses will be the factor in this game. Texas has a better one and they will win. Hook 'em Horns!

I'd consider it a big deal because of the politicing that Brown did to jump California in the final poll last year. Like him or hate him, he is a master at playing the media.

Of course, it's all for naught when Reggie Bush gets over 500 yards of total offense in the Rose Bowl. Go SC!

Bush win't get over 200 yards. He'll have a good game but the Texas defense will have a better game than the USC offense and the Texas O will have its way with the USC D.

Key on Bush and Lendale White will run circles around you. Key on either one of them and Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith will catch more passes than you can imagine.

Their defense isn't as good as it was last year, but they have playmakers that can get the job done.

Outside of Ohio State, who did Texas play that was a truly worthy competitor? Rice? , Baylor?, Texas A&M (down this year)?, Texas Tech (they were the strongest opponent with the exception of tOSU), Colorado (twice)?

USC's schedule wasn't as tough this year either but they did destroy Oregon, went down to the wire with a very solid Notre Dame team in South Bend, and played a very strong Fresno State team (they only play highly ranked teams tough it seems though).

Neither team would have the strongest SOS, but I just don't see how Vince Young will carry that team by himself. There are some amazing athletes on the USC D.

Texas has a slightly better D but an offense that doesn't hold a candle to the freakish offense USC has. They have too many weapons.

USC's D will be good enough to keep the LongWhorns at bay.

USC by 10-12 points. Remember, they are pretty much playing in their own backyard too.

USC almost and should have lost twice. They barely beat Fresno St. and they shouldn't have beaten Notre Dame.

Of course Mack Brown, behind closed doors, is saying to his players, "I want USC to 'think' that we (Texas) have no chance."

I think that it is pretty obvious why he voted USC #1.

I very good bet would be to take Texas and the points...a very very good bet.
