I think Epi King will enjoy this as well. He sounds pretty cocky for never doing anything at the DI-A level. But, then again, how hard is it to complete a shovel pass?duelalumnicat wrote:"The 6-foot-5 Swogger has a strong arm and marginal mobility"
"Marginal mobility." Merry Christmas Clive Lowe and Bobby Daly.
And Baby Hauck has already named him the spring drill starter. Gotta love that if your Berquist or WashingtonGavinDonos wrote:Heheh
I guess we agree that the Griz signing this guy will greatly benifit our blitzing LB's.
i was hoping this wasn't going to happen. i think that it is common knowledge that if we'd gotten this guy, or any other guy that left montana and montana state open, then the griz would tell us they didn't want him, or that he wasn't good enough for there program. sorry to throw them all in the same boat, but i have been reading comments like these since the espn.com days! let's be the bigger guys, and just accept it for what it is. i was even one of the guys from the very beginning that said i was sick of hearing about him, and that from what i saw and heard, he wasn't that great. but that doesn't mean he can't be very good for one year. we are gonna feel like asses if this guy turns it on, and tears up the sky next year. i like watching the griz fans sound like hypocrites, and eating their words. i hope i don't have to watch my fellow bobcats do the same!GavinDonos wrote:Heheh

Actually there were quite a few people on this board that DID NOT want MSU to go after Swogger. I was one of them. I want a more mobile type QB with a decent arm to go along with a power running game and a good defense. I think we will end up having all 3 next year. I think it was too much of a risk to have him come in for just one year and pick up the offense etc. If he played at Washington State he for sure has some talent, but how quickly he picks up the offense etc. remains to be seen. The fact is, the Griz dont' have any RAC type receivers so they are going to have to dink and dunk again I think. It should be interesting next year. Just wait though, if he comes in and loses a few games for them (slow/sacked/fumbles etc.) then they will be all over Hauck. I wish the kid the best, but I'm glad we didn't go that route to be honest.grizindahouse wrote:You guys are something else. And everyone makes it sound like he is a primadonna, since he did not commit in a day when Kramer pushed the issue. Time will tell if he makes a difference on the field, but either school would have been happy to improve the talent at the QB position. As for the comment about being the starter, all that was said is that going into Spring drills he would be #1 on the depth chart, nothing beyond Spring, so everyone will get a chance.
Why should I be afraid to say that I didn't want this guy to come to MSU? Heck there are some Griz fans who aren't exactly thrilled that he signed with UM.whitetrashgriz wrote:i was hoping this wasn't going to happen. i think that it is common knowledge that if we'd gotten this guy, or any other guy that left montana and montana state open, then the griz would tell us they didn't want him, or that he wasn't good enough for there program. sorry to throw them all in the same boat, but i have been reading comments like these since the espn.com days! let's be the bigger guys, and just accept it for what it is. i was even one of the guys from the very beginning that said i was sick of hearing about him, and that from what i saw and heard, he wasn't that great. but that doesn't mean he can't be very good for one year. we are gonna feel like asses if this guy turns it on, and tears up the sky next year. i like watching the griz fans sound like hypocrites, and eating their words. i hope i don't have to watch my fellow bobcats do the same!GavinDonos wrote:Heheh

I have to admit that doesn't look good... You have a sophomore returning who started last season and you take the team away from him. Usually your starter from the year before has the position to lose, but not when Bobby is at the helm (must be part of his “great” recruiting tactics- hope Selle loves his chances as starting as a true freshman now).CARDIAC_CATS wrote:And Baby Hauck has already named him the spring drill starter. See my post above.grizindahouse wrote:You guys are something else. The guy decides to play for the Griz, and you all make it sound like the guy could not play for Rocky Mountain. first, i never said anyone had to apologize for anything. but i know cat fans. we are not like some of the griz. even those os us, myself included that didn't think he'd be a good fit for the cats, i think would embrace him if he did come here. if we could accept tyler thomas, and try to convine ourselves and others that he was a good qb, i don't see why we wouldn't do the same with swogger. but because we didn't get him, i just dont see any need to rag on him until we see what he does. just my opinion man! you can talk crap about him until kickoff for all i care! i will say that unless someone on this board actually knows him, i think some of the comments are unnecessary. maybe he wasn't playing a "waiting game." maybe he doesn't "like attention". and maybe he doesn't have "an attitude." we dont no anything about this guy. he has himself, a wife, family, and friends all to consider. maybe he's just as glad as everyone that this thing is over. all i was saying is that some of the posts sounded very "grizish", with the he sucks, our lb's will kill him, he's got an attitude, he likes attention smack!GavinDonos wrote:Why should I be afraid to say that I didn't want this guy to come to MSU? Ever since he gave MSU an stern warning, saying that our signing deadline "isn't very smart" on our part, I could have cared less where he went. I applaud Kramer for sticking to that deadline and not getting caught up in the soap opera that ensued.
It's clear that Swogger wasn't interested in going somewhere where he would have to fight for the job, he as much as says that. And I found it interesting how he kept playing the waiting game while giving several interviews per week during this whole process. I wonder if this kid likes attention? We don't need that attitude on our club. We've got our guy Carpenter and some new blood in Rolo and Desin. A situation like Swogger's would do nothing but the process.
This isn't sour grapes on my part, and I'm not gonna put on a show and pat the efriz gasbags on the back when my true feelings are absolutely legitimate.
Maybe I wish he woulda went to YSU instead of either UM or another 'Sky school such as EWU, but that doesn't mean I wish he was a 'Cat. Sorry, no apologies here.
First impressions are a bitch, I guess...grizindahouse wrote:..for a MAJORITY of you to call him a primadonna, and already judge his skills is what just slays me.
But what if these same people were saying this even when MSU was supposedly in the running for him? Now that he is signed with the Griz, are they supposed to change their opinions and bow down to him? I know I didn't want him to go to MSU either. I didn't want him at UM just in case he turned out to be really good, but I was definitely turned off by what I was reading during the all-too-public recruiting process, and I was glad that MSU was out of the picture.grizindahouse wrote:I am not saying that anyone has to apologize because he did not decide to atend MSU, but for a MAJORITY of you to call him a primadonna, and already judge his skills is what just slays me. There are many people that did want him at each school, and many that did not.
HelenaCat, I was already under the assumption, well before Swogger, that Washington would not be back with the program next year. I had heard that he was already looking to leave, because he had determined that he would not be ahead of Cole or Clint when Spring drills started.
