I don't know if any of you have seen this but one of the Griz boards has shut down due to things getting really messy among the users. If you can please take a minute to read the letter from the board operators.
http://www.grizzlyboards.com/
I just want as many people to read the letter and remind themselves that if it can happen there it can happen here and we don't want to see this site go in the same fashion.
Thanks to all the members for making this place a great place to spend time!!

Mainly thanks to the guy you all knew as "wolfman"
Sucks to see that board get shut down, but with what he was doing over there something had to happen.

It's "your" board. When someone obviously tries to dominate it, especially in a bad way, don't be hesitant in getting rid of them. You guys are doing a pretty good job over here so far, but as your popularity increases, so will the opportunity to 'loose control" to some azsholes or group of azsholes..
Remeber, sometimes tuff love works!

And as he joined and posted a message he was quickly shown the exit. Mainly I just wanted everyone to see it and use it as a warning. As things do become more popular around here it will be more difficult for the three mods to police it at all times, so it is good to remember to act like adults and respect that we will have differences in opinion. This isn't intended to scold anyone or call anyone out. Just a reminder of how quickly something great can be taken away by a few bad apples.

The website has grown to a point where we cannot police it at the level it clearly requires. While the vast majority of members used the boards to discuss Grizzly athletics, a small minority abused it, disregarding board policy, common decency, and common sense. What used to be an enjoyable place to discuss sports (and for the staff to monitor) has become a train-wreck of threats, insults, and complaints. It stopped being fun for us a long time ago, and we've had enough.
Ah, the tyranny of the minority strikes again. A few clods ruin a good thing for everyone.
Really though, a message board is like any other sociological group. At first there is the struggle to build it, then a period of prosperity, followed by an internal struggle fostered by people with opposing agendas. Eventually, fighting ensues, and ultimately either some are banished or the whole thing goes down in flames.
Maybe I wasn't so far off with my proposed (and half-jested) "Griz Free" Forum?

PapaG who is to say that person who would want to tear this board down would be a Griz fan? UGMB was brought down by a Griz "fan". All it takes is one nut who absolutely hates Kramer & wants nothing more than to see him fail & will do anything to irritate those who support him. I hope nothing like what happened over there happens here though!

It makes you really respect and appreciate what good moderators do (egriz and bobcatnation). I'm not meaning to say the UGMB moderator was "bad" he even stated that he did not have enough time to watch the board as he should.
You guys are doing a good job keeping this board in order over here, keep up the good work.

it would be a shame for that to happen here. my excuse to get out of doing chores during nap time would be gone
no really i like the different opinions on the board, we just need more women, there's only 3 actively posting. can't have all discussion be practical and logical, we need some emotional posts as well
