The ASUN-WAC has officially combined into one conference and are creating by-laws now. The Ohio Valley and Big South are playing as a 1 bid league in 2023.

Expect a team to add football.

What an odd conference for football, I wonder if SUU is regretting leaving the Big Sky so they could make a bunch of trips to Texas and the Southeast US instead.

Let's see. 1-10 in their last season of the BSC.
5-6 with 2-3 in conference play in the WAC'd.
Probably happy

I am guessing one of the primary motivations was to create a rivalry with neighbor Utah Tech. At only 50 miles apart, it could generate some new excitement for both schools.

For the first time in text I saw the term ‘Power 2 Conferences’ (SEC and B1G 10) in an article on the ESPN site today regarding the the predicament the PAC 12 finds itself in with the upcoming loss of USC and UCLA. Apparently the PAC 12 is entering TV contract negotiations. More should be known about future realignment in a few weeks after those negotiations. As previous rumors have already indicated, SDSU is expecting an invite to the PAC 12. With the playoffs expanding to 12 in 2024 schools will be jockeying for their most lucrative position and ripples will continue.

San Diego state CA ame out today telling boosters they were going to the pac-8. Also SMU moving.

Now where are Arizona schools going to play?

And will the pac 8 and the MWC merge? Nope.

Where are they getting Pac-8 from, is there an assumption that other teams will also leave? Washington & Oregon to the Big 10 is a common rumor but even if that happens then adding SDSU and SMU keeps them at 10.

Arizona schools considered leaving and it's a highly likely scenario. Rice is now officially not currently in the pac-8 running.

If Washington, Oregon, and the Arizona schools bolt I'd imagine Colorado and Utah wouldn't be far behind in joining the Big 12. Then it's pretty much game over unless the Pac-12 just wants to raid the MWC.

it would be kind of ironic if Colorado went from Big 12 to Pac 12 and then back to the Big 12.

Money doesn't rule the world but it runs the people who rule the world.

I don’t know, anymore — with AI and cryptocurrencies, they may be running things themselves. 😔

hope this doesnt happen. Tucson to Morgantown is a brutal travel weekend for the Olympic sports. Portland or Seattle is even worse.

its fine for football or basketball when a game is only 2 or 4 hours. But for gymnastics or track or swimming or swimming or golf, conferences spanning 4 time zones are a travesty.

Considering all the ways in which the NCAA has conspired to screw over student athletes for the last 50 years, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that its letting this happen.

I'd have gone with "The Leftovers" but I guess this works. Lots of purple teams!

Wow, that’s a catchy name. I’ll confuse it with Universal Athletics. But I guess no matter if the conference adds Maine and Hawaii, it still works. Clearly they aren’t through morphing. Quite honestly I’ve always liked Conference names that identify a region of the country — PAC-12, SEC, MVC, OVC, BSC, NSIC. I’ll never have any clue where the MAC (Mid-America is pretty non-specific, like between the great oceans) or Conference USA is located.

I hope they are allowed to proceed. There could be no higher fan honor than to be a United Athletic Supporter. 😂 😂

Just out of curiosity, but are these the same LDS ladies who created that monstrosity WAC that fell apart when a few schools broke away and formed that other joke called the Mountain West? What an horrendous name for a conference and is it any wonder why those at the NCAA held up on the formation after they finished laughing? Seriously? You can't make this crap up.
