Here is an article about Weber State Coach Ron McBride posted on a local blog in Ogden:

I liked the article until the last few paragraphs. He says winning is the key to attendance, but then says he won't go until they play big name schools?

That is the attitude that keeps I-AA teams in I-AA.

Interesting tidbit about the recruiting budgets, though. I was suprised to see we lead the conference - guess all those trips to CA add up. :)

I don't necessarily think it's all those trips to California, but the price of flying in and out of Bozeman, especially at the last minute. Consider how much closer it is from Ogden to Salt Lake City...

If not for the QB Club, our recruiting budget would be at Weber State's amount , or less!

I may not have been totally clar on this. What I was trying to say is that in this market, you have to bring in the big name schools to get attendence if you are not winning. If WSU football wins, they will have good attendance no matter who they play. There is just too much competition now in this market for the sports buck for a team that doesn't win. Utah and BYU go through similar things when they don't win, but they can supplement it by getting big name players in college football.

That, I will agree with.
