NIT Changes will Hurt BSC?

Post by nevadacat » Sun Oct 29, 2023 9:14 am

https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-me ... ntal-rules

“For the 2024 NIT, conference regular season champions that do not win their conference tournament or are not otherwise selected to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship will not receive an automatic bid to the NIT.”

This appears aimed directly at conferences like the Big Sky.

Looks like they want to turn the NIT into a tournament for power conference also-rans. That's fine I guess though not something I'll have any interest in watching, hopefully one of the other postseason tournaments would pick up any small-conference teams who are excluded from the NIT by this.
