Coaching Carousel 2025
With the season over or finishing up soon for most teams it will be interesting to keep track of the coaching movement and how it could affect the Big Sky. One name to watch will be Loree Payne at NAU, if Arizona's coach moves to Auburn as has been rumored you'd have to think that Payne would be a top candidate at UA after beating them twice this year with NAU. The Grand Canyon job is also open with Molly Miller going to Arizona State. That could also be a move up with GCU joining the Mountain West in 2026.

Quite a bit of speculation out there that Utah State's new coach is the favorite to move to West Virginia. If he leaves they'll be hiring a new coach for the third consecutive year and fourth time in the last five years. Ouch.

I guess if you keep making good hires and going to tourney it is not a bad thing. Could hire bad, not sustain success but keep your coach.

After staying put at his D-2 school forever, Ben McCollum of Drake is moving to Iowa after only one season there. Sean Miller of Xavier is heading to Texas. And now we have Niko Medved of Colorado State moving to Minnesota, which opens up a pretty desirable job in the Big Sky region with CSU heading to the new Pac-12.

It's an absolute miracle we've got to keep coach Binford! We need to really relish what we have in our WBB program. NAU was pretty much our only resistance! Maybe Nate Harris gets Montana going, but I feel like we've got a mini-dynasty on our hands.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 4:23 pmLoree Payne leaves NAU for Santa Clara.

Wow, I thought Sac State dodged a bullet by hiring Brennan Marion over Mike Vick for their football coach...and now this. They are certainly going for as much media attention as they can get in their quest to get the Pac-12 to notice them.

Interesting. I remember Henry but not so much Mike. Maybe I’m just really old.

Trish addresses often her love of Bozeman and desire to keep living there. She grew up in the mountains of Colorado and I think she really likes mountain communities. Interesting news about Loree Payne. After NAU beat Arizona for the second time, I realized once again what a special team MSU WBB was this year. Only a handful beat them once, and the ‘Cats were the only team to beat them twice.tetoncat wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 4:56 pmMaybe husband has a good job also and they love the area?BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 4:35 pmIt's an absolute miracle we've got to keep coach Binford! An article a few years back in Felix’s Bobcat Magazine mentioned that the two Binfords bought Duds and Suds during Covid. They’re business people on top of basketball people.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 8:07 pmTrish addresses often her love of Bozeman and desire to keep living there. I am guessing that 2008, 2010 was the last year that I followed the Kings...
