Deion Sanders 54 Million

Post by catatac » Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:16 pm

over five years. I don't really understand that. I suppose Colorado is somewhat just paying for the spectacle that is Deion, good marketing I suppose. However, does anyone think Deion is a better coach than say, Brent Vigen for example? I don't.

I'd say he's worth every penny of that contract as long as Colorado keeps on winning now that Shedeur and Travis Hunter are no longer on the team. He's not as good of a coach as Brent Vigen but he doesn't need to be if he can use his name and personality to bring in top recruits and then build a quality staff around himself to coach those players once they show up on campus. And it's hard to put a price on the increased fan support and media attention he has brought with him by turning Colorado football from a laughing stock into a competitive team.

Coach Vigen, is that you ?

Seriously, Colorado had to bet the farm to get Coach Prime. They needed to do something drastic and they did because the same old formula was not working and quickly losing relevance during a time of conference realignment. It was a gamble as Coach Prime didn’t come up the ranks as usual I.e., not a H.C. or coordinator from a power 5. He did bring in some great talent and believe that was one reason for the hire. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain success now. Not sure where the money came from as they are still paying-off fired coaches.
