From Anaconda, voted the MVP of Utah State' All Century Team Wayne Estes. Someone on the USU board posted a some of his memorbilia from his last game and memorial service.
I know he was not a Cat, but he was from Montana so I thought some of you guys might be interested. An aquaintance of mine who knew him in high schoold said he was not offered a scholly by UM or MSU.

He did indeed do that. Roche Estes is a great shooter who has signed to play ball at Tech.

Ron Estes was my P.E. teacher in grade school and the first basketball coach I ever had. Still love that guy and his whole family.

I don't know if's still there, but their used to be a restaurant on the east side of Anaconda (Grannies or something like that) that had a memorial case to Estes. Jersey, shoes, etc. Largest damn basketball shoes I've ever seen.

I figured you'd probably have the answer- Thanks. Aren't those shoes something like size 17?

They also have a pair of his shoes at the Spectrum (USU arena), I think I could put them on over my shoes!

The state of Montana missed the boat on WE. I believe Wayne still holds the record for the most points scored in the Adams Field House (44 I think). A native of Anaconda, I remember the day Estes died as well as I remember the day JFK was assassinated. Truely the saddest day in the history of our small community WE was enshrined as nothing less than a superhero. I still get choked up when I read about him. The memorial case was originally located in the lobby of the Marcus Daly Hotel where it remained until the hotel was gutted in the mid '70's.
The Estes genes continue to make Montana proud as some of you have mentioned. Ron Estes to this day continues to hit softballs out of the Washoe Park baseball park. Another member of the Estes family, Jason Crebo, helped the Griz win their first National Championship in 1995.
