Sendek leaving NC State to coach Arizona State
ASU replaces one eastern-based coach with another.
When will they learn?

I guess finishing around seventh every year in the Pac-10 is good enough for them. And this means Krystowiak will probably be at UM next year and not in the Pac-10.

Andy Katz of ESPN Radio reported today (among other things) that Pepperdine requested a phone interview with Larry K. (again among other)
More $- 350-450 K

From Column:
..........
Other nuggets
• Any suggestion that ASU was after Montana's Larry Krystkowiak wasn't true. Krystkowiak was in Mexico vacationing and hadn't talked to ASU. A source close to Krystkowiak, though, did confirm that Krystkowiak does have a phone interview set with Pepperdine for early next week.
Krystkowiak makes roughly $100,000 on each one-year contract -- standard procedure in the state. There is talk of giving him a multiyear deal, but the money probably wouldn't change that much.

The situation I was talking about was in terms of Basketball. If its 3 1/2 times his current salary it would be hard to pass up.
I also heard that the Washington assistant is top on the Pepperdine list.

Pepperdine used to be a pretty competitive school in men's B-Ball. What happened to them? You don't hear that much about them anymore.

Paul Westphal happened to them. He's a terrible coach. I think Pepperdine could be as good as a Gonzaga. I've had a few friends go to school there; the recruiting angle should be a no-brainer. LA area, Malibu campus, solid academics. Throw in some mega-rich alumni and this is a sleeping mid-major giant.
Side question - Did one of Dennis Washington's kids go to Pepperdine? I seem to remember hearing that one of them went to Malibu for school.

From all that Ive read that program is a MESS!!! The players want to decide who the next coach is and they went 7-21!!!! And the Pres. is listening to them, I think Larry would be stupid to go there.

If they offer close to $400k/year I'm sure Krysko won't mind being called stupid for a few years.
Larry won't take any crap from those kids. It actually sounds like his style is exactly what Pepperdine needs.
