Any News at Pepperdine
I have been out of town and out of communication... has there been any news on Coach K at Pepperdine.
I wish him well as he is a class act. It would be a tough loss for U of M and for this state as he is a bundle of energy and good person and solid coach.

I really don't know. I think I am am a little bias, but If I had to guess Krysco is neck and neck with Gib Arnold. Arnold was an assistant at Pepperdine a few years back so he some Huse like connections, but he also comes with some baggage. If Krysco is offered I am would say chances are maybe 66% he will take the job. It is a great step up job despite what our Egriz friends are thinking, but Krysco is really enjoying himself right now in Missoula. Thats the wild card in the whole equation.CatGrad00 wrote:Your prediction?mslacat wrote:Interviews concluded friday. Look for a coach or three to pull their names out of the hat, with in the next couple of days, followed by the announcement of threir new coach, about 6-24 hours later.

I am pretty much a cynic when it comes to issues like this. If Pepperdine were to announce a new coach yesterday or today I would think so, but in this case I really think Krysco honestly got tired of the whole thing. First of all, as I have said before Krysco is REALLY enjoying coaching Montana right now, it was going to be a difficult choice no matter what they did. The thing that may have really turned the tide was the selection process and the time frame it taking to get the whole thing done. In today's L.A. papers it say that not only have they interviewed 4 candidates recently but there are 2 more candidate yet to be interviewed. No one knows who these guys are. It took them 2 weeks to interview 4 candidates (remember MSU interviewed 3 in 4-5 days including the public forums), so how long will it be before they conclude there interviews. Montana's basketball program is in a holding pattern until Krysco situation is resolved. The other candidates are either assistants or JC coaches they can wait and wait. Krysco wants to sign a hot shot JC wing, but the two he has on the line will not sign until this whole thing is resolved, and they could be losing their patience. Plus Montana has an assistant coach to hire. Again they can not do this until it is resolved. Pepperdine is a great job, but are totally screwing up the process, remember this job opened up at the same time or before the MSU job opened uptetoncat wrote:Krysko pulled his name out. MSLACAT do you think that means he wasn't going to get it and knew so he pulled his name?

Pepperdine: Krystkowiak out of running
BY JILL PAINTER, Staff Writer
Montana coach Larry Krystkowiak withdrew his name from consideration for the Pepperdine men's basketball coaching job Monday. Krystkowiak was expected to be offered the job but he withdrew before that happened, according to a source close to the situation.
That leaves UCLA assistant Donny Daniels, USC assistant Gib Arnold and Fresno City coach Vance Walberg. Walberg appears to be the frontrunner. The job could be offered to one of those candidates as early as today, a source said, but there are two mystery candidates.
Pepperdine athletic director John Watson confirmed there are two other candidates who have not gone through the formal interview process. "We're looking at others than (Arnold, Daniels and Walberg)," Watson said.
