Reggie Bush is being investigate for recieving free lodging for his family in a swanky house this year. If it turns out true, Southern Cal could have to forfiet ALL of its games this year, and if that happens he could then lose the Heisman Trophy. Fans from Texas are already flooding the Heisman Trust office asking that Bush be removed as this years winner and Vince young be named this years Heisman

Not a good year for people named Bush!

Texas fans are whizzing in the wind. There is no way Bush will lose his Heisman. It's not even certain how exactly this housing arrangement was structured.

As Mike & Mike said this morning Reggie will lose the Heisman when Ken Caminetti gives back his MVP award.

No way they will take the Heisman away, but it angers me if it is true shame on USC, but we should wait until the investigation is complete so slowdown UT.

USC had nothing to do with it. The Bush family had an "agreement" with the guy who built the house who just happened to be a sports agent.

The Heisman has nothing to do with the NCAA and it comes from a private foundation involving the Downtown Athletic Club.

His Heisman won't be lost but the question of his eligibility might be considered during the course of last season.

To me, it sounds like the guy who bought the house leaked all of this when he realized that Bush wasn't going to sign with him as his agent.

I guess as possible punishment USC could forfeit their entire last season and that includes a lot of money they made from the games.

As a team, you might see USC have a couple of scholarships yanked for an unspecified amount of time.

He's still going to make a fortune in the NFL.

So the Bush family paid rent on a house from a guy who unsuccessfully tried to steer Reggie to an agent? I guess I fail to see why this is a big deal. If Reggie had signed with the guy who owned the house, then I see a problem. I don't see how renting from a failed middleman violates any NCAA bylaws.

I'm in the camp where I could care less if they got rid of these silly rules altogether.

I see the logic in keeping a player accepting gifts from schools -- that skews the competition by giving rich schools an advantage that is even more obvious than the status quo.

However, the rules against how a kid can make money on his own (as long as it's not directly or indirectly related to his partipation for the school) seem silly to me. If an agent wants to throw money at his family, or give them a break on rent, I really don't care. Who's really the victim here? If it allowed him to justify staying in school for another year as opposed to bolting for the pros one year earlier, it's all good to me. It seems silly that his parents should have to live in a crappy apartment until the second he is no longer a college athlete, and then they are instantly allowed to cash in on his anticipated success.

I'm just glad those rules don't apply to regular students, or else I would have lost my college scholarships because I had a paid internship.
