Is this for real?

If so, was he at the end of his contract?

There is some talk he may not finish out the season.

I just read it over on egriz; he still had another year on his contract. Wonder if he'd been able to finish it out if he'd ever gotten that "personality transplant" he so desperately needed...?

Two things: USU is not interested in the UM coach. And second, what makes you so certain Kramer is not interested in USU? I think he would go if they hired him. He turned MSU around and he might think he could do the same at USU.

I think the USU AD has an 1-a assitant in mind. The two most mentioned are USU grad and current Arizona OC Mike Canales. And I have heard that Utah DC coordinator is might be being considered.

Here is a link to the USU board for anyone who might be interested.

USU hiring Kramer would be like MSU hiring North Dakota's coach after firing Solomonson. No way do the Aggies grab another Big Sky coach-even if a guy like Kramer is exactly what they need. Often in these cases you'll hear "the progam needs to go in another direction" or some such cliche.

I always thought Dennehy was a strange choice for USU-he just didn't seem like a good fit.

I miss the Dennehy show on Sunday nights. Nothing could put me into a deep sleep like that.

Belgrade, my thoughts exactly. MD was well liked as a person in Logan. You would have a hard time finding anyone who did not like him.

At UM MD just had to MAINTAIN a good program at USU it was a total REBUILDING job. Two very different things.

I wish MD and his staff all the best.

From my experiences with Dennehy, I have a hard time seeing him as a good fit anywhere in sports - zero personality + zero enthusiasm = zero.

Good point by Navy, though; rebuilding & maintaining are 2 totally different jobs. I can see Coach K wanting the USU job just to "get his feet wet" at the 1A level; better money for sure and if he turned them around the way he has at MSU & EWU, he could be looking at a MUCH bigger program in 4 or 5 seasons...

The word is out; guess I'd better move to Missoula, sign up for some classes, and find out when the next MARCH is taking place...

Interesting side note on this from Kramer on the Sports Nuts just now. Apparently the year he went 9-2 at EWU and took them deep into the I-AA playoffs he was set to go to USU after the season. His deep run in the playoffs kept it from happening as they were anxious to get a coach in before recruiting got going.
