Top Montana H.S. Football players since 2009

Post by HelenaCat95 » Fri Feb 08, 2013 11:32 am

I posted this on another thread, but I'll start this over here.

Who are your top Montana H.S. FB players since 2009? I used 2009, because I wanted to only include those who are currently in H.S. or college, and haven't graduated from college - this eliminates obvious choices for all time lists, like Dickenson, Bierman, Collins, etc.

I know a little bit about AA Football over the past 10 years (not as much about this years season/class).

In my opinion, the players that have had the biggest individual impact over the past few years are in this order:
1- Matt Miller
2- Tanner Roderick
3- Caleb Kidder
4- Gunnar Brekke
5- Dylan Simac
6- current QB from Butte (name slips me right now)
7- current DE/TE from Bozeman, Dissly
8- Jake Bleskin
9- Devin Jefferies (yes, I think he belongs on this list)
10- Sean Blomquist

Who are yours? And in what order? Who did I forget about (my list is obviously a little Helena biased) ? I don't know as much about the other levels of FB, so fill me in.

Great idea for a thread. I agree with all of your picks, but I would change the order and add a few to the list.
1- Matt Miller
2- Tanner Roderick
3- Caleb Kidder
4- Gunnar Brekke
5- Dylan Simac
6- Brock Osweiler (if we are going back to 2009)
7- current DE/TE from Bozeman, Dissly
8- current QB from Butte (name slips me right now) His name is Dallas Cook.
9- Jake Bleskin
10- Devin Jefferies (yes, I think he belongs on this list) AGREED
11- Sean Blomquist
12-Ben Weyer-Bozeman High DL/OL. We lost him to the Griz, but he is a flat out player. Will grow into a mammoth OL. Was a force on both sides of the ball for 3 seasons.
13-Cody Carriger- Butte High WR. Insane Athlete. Plays DE at Oregon now. http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml ... =205503987
14-Hunter Gappmeyer RB Bozeman. Solid player. Tons of production in the run and pass game. Picks up tough yards for crucial 1st downs.

I like some of the choices.
I forgot about Weyer...you're right, he should definitely be on the list. Don't know Gappmeyer as much (as I said, not as familiar with AA FB this year.
Osweiler should be on the list, but since I only wanted guys who are currently in H.S. or college, I didn't include him.
Definitely disagree on Carriger. He is a good athlete, big and fast. But I did not think he was a good football player. Oregon may see something different in his potential, but as far as individual impact on a game, I never saw it from Carriger. Just my opinion.

Keep em rollin.

There are just a ton of kids who can be on this list. Nolan Saraceni and Chad Newell from Senior High could easily be in the mix too.

Jesse Simms - Stevinsville will be the most highly recruited player since Miller.
