What a mess, should be an interesting conference race to watch

Laurel 3-2 with losses to Miles city and Dillon (who lost to Butte C last night)

Sidney 3-2 with losses to Fergus and Laurel but a win over billings central

Miles City 1-4 with a loss to Belgrade and a win over Laurel, other 3 wins were relatively weak teams in Havre, Hardin and Livingston, Belgrade hasnt looked great either IMO but has probably locked up central A with wins over Fergus and Havre.

Billings Central 2-2 including a loss to Sidney and Bute Centeral and a win over Dillon

Harden and Sidney look to be the bottom of eastern A again.

The entirety of A is kind of a mess this year. Belgrade has been far from amazing though the wins over Butte Central and Miles City are now looking even better. They played an amazingly difficult non-conf schedule and could easily be unbeaten right now if not for failing to convert inside the 5 twice against the Rams.

The biggest issue right now for Belgrade is Konkol left the Havre game with an injury and didn't return. They should be able to take care of Browning and Livingston even if he is out to finish atop the Central but they need him to get anywhere in the playoffs.

I hadn't heard that he was injured in the Havre game,
I was at the Fergus game, when Konkol ran the offense Fergus never stopped them (1st half), when the other QB ran the offense, Belgrade never scored (2nd half). It looks like their future really is dependent on one player.

Yep, it was a pretty stark contrast those two halves of that game when he was in and when he wasn't. If I'm remembering right the backup had a drive for a TD against Havre with what sounded like a really nice pass for the score. That was enough to essentially seal the win.

Belgrade has some other really good players, Ruff, Campbell, etc. But the overall performance really does seem dependent on the threat of Konkol to run to open up the rest of the offense.

I had heard Konkol has a football scholarship offer from MSU. I hope the knee injury doesn't affect that. Tough deal. He's also a pretty good basketball player.

But they’ll have to accomplish that without standout quarterback Brayden Konkol. The senior suffered a knee injury late in the first half of last week’s 40-27 victory against Havre, and he surgery Tuesday on a damaged meniscus.

While the meniscus could not be repaired, it’s actually good news for Konkol and the Panthers because he’ll have a chance to return for the postseason.

“It’s a bad thing for him later in life because he’ll have a chance at some arthritis, but it’s good for us that they took it out. When you have to repair it it’s a longer recover period. It’s six to eight weeks, so we definitely would not have him back,” Belgrade coach Eric Kinnaman explained. “But since they took it out — about 60 percent of his meniscus — that means we’ll get him back in three to six weeks. Knowing Brayden he’s going to work. He’s going to try to get back.”

Isnt that the same injury that Evin Groves had, and finally had to give it up. That really sucks, that kid was impressive to watch.
