2024 High School Football in MT

Post by kennethnoisewater » Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:42 pm

Hey guys, football games are starting in MT this week, and I think I know less than ever before about what to expect out of teams.

I'm thinking Glacier will be good in AA, as well as Gallatin and Bozeman (because they always reload). Capital should be good I'd think.

In Class A you always have to consider Dillon first. Then maybe Hamilton, Billings Central, Columbia Falls (new coach), maybe Havre? Lewistown?

Florence is on an unbelievable run in Class B but they have a new coach. I'm sure they still have plenty of dudes though. Manhattan should be good, as well as Red Lodge, Eureka, Boulder...

Don't know much about 6-man and 8-man.

Anybody have any favorites?

I just have the sad idea that my Park Rangers will be pretty bad.

Yeah that's a pretty rough program right now. Corvallis has turned it around it seems, maybe Park can too...? Better for everybody if they field a halfway decent team.

Watched Glacier beat GFH last night, they looked pretty dang good. GFH didn't get embarrassed, but they just looked to be outmanned. That QB for Glacier is a stud. Just a Junior, already committed to Boise State on a full ride. They say he's the 2nd best QB in the state, just behind Grant Vigen!

I am predicting Glacier vs Gallatin in the state championship. Helena Capital and Billings West will be in the mix. Bozeman has a rebuilding year despite Brady Cassagranda getting Gatorade Player of the Year.

Fairview looks to be the favorite to repeat in 8-Man, but Belt, Valley Christian, and Ennis are playing well too. Fairview might have some competition in the East from Circle this year.

I haven't followed 6 man as much, but Chester/Joplin/Inverness was ranked #1 before Box Elder beat them by 20.

There's the truth, and then there's what's reported in the papers.

Fairview vs Circle this weekend in a matchup of the #1 and the #4 teams in the 8-man ranks. Fairview has a 17 game winning streak, but Circle appears to be very good. #2 Belt is the real deal (again) and plays a solid Choteau team this weekend. #3 Valley Christian plays #6 Seeley Swan this weekend as well. It should be an interesting weekend!

Went to the Fairview versus Circle game. Circle at Fairview outsized both in height and weight. Fairview just had some more key players.

Strong showing by the Northern and Eastern C this weekend in the 8-man playoffs. All 4 north teams and 3 east teams win opening round games. Some of the quarterfinal matchups should be outstanding. Belt hosts Culbertson. Drummond/Phillipsburg hosts Chinook. Fairview host Choteau. Fort Benton hosts Scobey. My predictions….Belt, Chinook, Fairview, and Fort Benton. I think Chinook and Fort Benton win in tight contests. Belt and Fairview each win by 3+ TDs

I'll be rooting for Coach Vigen and the Cats on Saturday, but sorry coach... I cannot cheer for you on Friday night. Go Bengals!

I am just excited my Park Rangers won a game. I wish I could see light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, I do have my purple/gold glasses securely over my eyes.

Centerville is a name I don't think I have ever heard of before.

Centerville is a name I don't think I have ever heard of before.
It's about 10-20 miles southeast of Great Falls but pretty much off the beaten path. Nearly a dead-end road, almost the only reason to go there would be to get to Centerville or Sand Coulee or Stockett or Tracy, all micro small communities that together make up Centerville schools.
Centerville has produced some good sports teams through the years, both boys and girls. The area originally had some coal mines and perhaps other mines and thus they are the Centerville miners. Probably more than you wanted to know.

If you're looking for someone with a little authority, I'm your man. I have as little as anyone!

4 for 4 so far. Although not sure it was really that hard a task this year.
