If Helena beats Capital this weekend, it will be interesting to see if Capital keeps their #2 ranking again - even tho they'd have 3 losses, including head to head losses to the two 1-loss teams directly below them...

Glacier and Helena are tied for 2nd at 8-1, and I presume that both of their losses were to Bozeman. Assuming that Helena beats Capital, I wonder how the tie-breakers would play out for determining the #2 seed, since their lone loss was to the same team. Does it then come down to point differential against common opponents? Either way they would play each other in the semi-finals, provided they both win in the 1st round, but of course home-field is at stake for that potential semi-final game.

Actually Capital is currently 2nd even tho Glacier beat them, due to their superior strength of schedule. That was the point of my post, that it doesn't make much sense to me.

And Helena doesn't play Bozeman this season, their loss was to CMR a couple weeks ago.

Unless they have changed the tiebreaker from last year and I don't think they have, Glacier will have the number 2 seed, the winner of Capital/Helena with get the 3 seed and the loser the 4th seed. The Power Rankings in this thread do not apply to playoff seeding for AA. If two teams are tied the head to head will determine. If three teams then record against each other will apply, the point differential in thos games applies with a cap at 14 points. At some point differential against common opponents applies.

Bozeman will not have played Helena or CMR this year.

Oh I see, John K was talking playoff seeds, and I was thinking power rankings. My bad.

I was talking about the actual standings, which determine the playoff seedings. These "power rankings" are interesting, but they have no bearing on the playoff seedings, not even for tie-breakers. Thanks though, for the correction about Helena having lost to CMR, rather than Bozeman. I remember that, now that you reminded me. That was sort of CMR's "signature" win of the season.

Skyview 2-1
Sentinel 1-1
Butte 1-1
CMR 1-2
In this scenario, I'm pretty sure that Skyview would get the #5 seed, CMR would be #8 (sucks for them). If Butte and Sentinel didn't play each other, then I think it would come down to how they fared against the other teams, in descending order of finish. starting with the #1 seed. In other words, whichever one of them had a win over the highest placing team above them in the standings (or below them in the standings I suppose, if neither of them beat a team that finished higher).

Sentinel, Butte and CMR will likely all finish at 6-4. If Skyview beats Senior they will also be 6-4 As Butte and Sentinel have not played each other it will likely come down to point differenial against common opponents. I have looked at the scores and the only teams that all 4 have played are West & GFH. Assuming CMR beats GFH by more than 14 then Butte, Skyview and CMR would be plus 28, Sentinel would be plus 17. KRTV indicates that there is a strenght of schedule tie breaker. I don't think that is correct.

If CMR gets the 8th seed........it doesnt "Suck for them"........it sucks for whoever they have to play.

So, if CMR does end up as the #8 seed, can I take that to mean that you'd pick them to upset Bozeman? I think they can beat any other team, but I don't see anyone beating Bozeman this year.

Indeed thank you for the link.

Dissly looks like a nightmare, bowling people over  . I have a hard time believing any team in Montana can stop that?

Found out tonight there is a new tie breaker tied loosely to strength of schedule. If Helena beats capital CMR will be 5th seed.

CMR won 52-0 over GFH

By virtue of their win over Helena, CMR gets the number 5 seed.

I feel sorry for whoever's seeded 8th, the winner of the 4-5 seed game and whoever wins the 2-3 semifinal game. This Bozeman team has to be one of the best Montana HS football teams of all time. Either that or its a down year for the rest of the AA. The whole AA playoff seems like a formality.
