Plains forfeited its game against Bigfork tonight because they have too many kids injured (may have had something to do with the 79-0 loss last week), so Bigfork has the night off. Got a call yesterday, though, and Big Sky and CMR are going to play their game at Bigfork tonight (too much smoke in Missoula), so I'll be running the board for that. It should be fun to watch the big(ger) boys play on the field I grew up playing on. Hope some people can make it for the game to see the prettiest setting for a high school football field that you might ever see.

On another note, keep an eye out for Bigfork in Class B. They've surprised the heck out of me! Some great athletes, but maybe not enough size...typical Bigfork.
What did you think of the game?
Sorry I just saw this. For most of the game, I didn't know what to think. CMR didn't seem to be quite as physical as I expected them to be, but then suddenly they were ahead by 28 points. When a game seems close and then a team runs away late, it's usually because they physically dominated and wore their opponent down. We've seen it many times from the Cats in the last couple years. Hunter Thompson was impressive. What's he doing next year?

So really CMR probably should have won by more than they did. Big Sky had some big plays on fourth down--their QB is a great athlete--and if CMR prevents those the game is more lopsided.

If you have nothing better to do this Friday, I'd encourage you to take in the Columbia Falls-Frenchtown game. C. Falls has the reincarnation of Steve Kracker playing in Zac Darling, who is listed as 5'10" and 187 which is heavier than Cody Kirk was as a junior. This kid is stout and not just quick but fast. A fascinating factoid is C. Falls' coach played defensive end for Idaho State and must have had a really miserable game chasing Jamie Martin from Weber around the game Martin threw for 675 yards. He's using Weber's old offense. Imagine that.

Playoff time for everyone except AA. Right now 5 teams tied for first with 7-2 records. Tie breaing scenario is pretty limited as they did not all play each other and only two teams common among all 5.

And I believe none of the top 5 play each other on the final weekend...correct?

I wish I had the ability to go watch most of these games... they will be great games and fun to watch!

Here are my predictions... probably not what most would pick:

CMR vs GFh CMR in a blowout.. not even close...
West Vs Skyview SHS in a tight game (14-13)
Helena Vs Capital HHS in another close one (26-24)
Glacier vs Big Sky MBS..game IN msla therefore KG gets "jobbed" in another tight game (35-33)
Butte vs Sentinel BUT in a game that is closer than it should be (45-42)

I agree with CMR, HHS, and Butte( but think Butte wins by 4 scores
I think Skyview wins but it will be much higher scoring 35-28
I don't see Big Sky Scoring enough points to be Glacier, even at home.

I hope your predictions are right.

Good call on the Skyview win. That surprised me a little.

The "Swami"Weezer sez...

Billings Skyview over Butte 34-28
Helena High over Bozeman 21-20
GF CMR over Billings West 28-13
Kalispell Glacier over Helena Capital 34-23

I believe all of these matchups could go either way... it is really that close.

I think you're about spot on with all of the pics except the Helena High/Bozeman score. The victory of margin should be much larger. I'm guessing 38-13 in this one. The Bengals defense has been phenomenal and the offense has been gaining momentum late in the season. I just don't see the Hawks doing anything that most teams haven't been able to accomplish all season.

Yeah, I may be a little bit high on that, but I gotta have faith in my Bengals. I can't seem to link to the overall stats/standings now, but I didn't seem to remember the Bengals and Hawks having a lot of common opponents. I was basing that off 1) a little bit of homerism  , 2) overall strength of schedule. I could be way off base.

For selfish reasons. I would love a Glacier vs. Bozeman championship game.

Congrats to the Hawks. They were able to come from behind and pull off the win. Helena High shot themselves in the foot in the 3rd qtr. They had a 1st and goal and eventually turned the ball over on downs instead of putting up 3 pts. Bengals were up 23-10 with 10 minutes left in the 4th and couldn't shut the door.

Props to the defensive ends from Bozeman (Dissly and ?). They were in the Bengal backfield most of the night.

The other D End is Connor Linebarger (#20)

Crazy game. Very fun to be at. Very proud of the Hawks.

Here are my picks for the AA semi's coming up:

Butte over GF CMR (41-24)
Bozeman over KAL Glacier (21-20)

I will even go as far to make Butte my pick in the State Championship game the following week... at home or even if it is in Kalispell. Butte is really playing well on both sides of the ball and I just can't see anybody beating them.
