High School Basketball

Post by c.falls cat » Sat Dec 15, 2012 2:54 am

Thought I would start a thread on h.s. hoops. I would love to hear any thoughts on teams or players from around the state.

Out west in class AA it looks to be a two horse race between Hellgate and Glacier. The two big players to watch there are Gonzaga commit Ryan Edwards from Glacier and Tres Tinkle from Hellgate.

In class A my hometown kids from Columbia Falls will be the best team in the NW but they are very young and I would be a little surprised if they made another run to the state chipper game. In the SW it looks like Stevi and Dillon will battle it out for the crown. Stevensville, I think has the better talent but Terry Thomas from Dillon is one of the top coaches in all of MT and seems to find a way to win year in and year out.

Bigfork may be the best class B team from the west. I really like waching how they play. They really get after you on defense, playing mostly man to man. They played Dillon last weekend and came very close to pulling off the upset.

Should be another fun year... so what say you???

Keep an eye on 3 sport star Jesse Simms from Stevi. He's very much like former Flathead and Nebraska standout Mark Gillman. The kid will easily get D1 looks for football and is already on the radar for D1 hoops as he's been playing in national AAU tournaments for quite a while. I live in Washington and heard about him a few years ago when he was an 8th grader.

Big Sandy and Highwood were supposed to be the "stars" of the Northern C boys teams again this year but Box Elder beat Big Sandy soundly (and Chinook too) and Roy-Winifred beat both Big Sandy and Highwood (as well as Chinook). So any thoughts on Class C ball in other parts of the state besides the north?
