Billings Scarlets in American Legion World Series
The Billings Scarlets made it to the American Legion World Series, the first time in 62 years that a team from Montana has advanced to the Legion Series. They won the regular season title, but finished only 3rd in the Montana state tournament. Fortunately for them, they were the host team for the Northwest regional tournament, which meant they got an automatic berth. They lost their first game, and then won five consecutive elimination games to punch their ticket to the WS.

What a wild run. I was at the state tournament in Helena and thought that Missoula was clearly the best team there. Helena took 2nd place and the scarlets were lucky to get third. Fortunately for them, as you said, they were the host team so didn't need to win state to receive a bid.John K wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:01 pmThe Billings Scarlets made it to the American Legion World Series, the first time in 62 years that a team from Montana has advanced to the Legion Series. Re: Billings Scarlets in American Legion World Series
Some of us former Scarlets from 1989-90 that won consecutive state championships were there and a few have sons in this team. These kids had as a goal at the Hall of Fame dinner in April and coach Hust called his shot when ai was talking to him that they’d beat our 57 wins in 1989 and after a stumble at State they did it!
All the boys graduating are playing college ball I believe or at least have offers.
Was a good time at the Regionals and this team had some very good pitching.

Good for the Scarlets on peaking the right time. But man, they were one of our huge rivals in the early 2000's. It was hard to wish them well at the World Series. But, I did.
