Some questions about youth football around Montana.
What city/town are you in?
What age do kids start playing organized football?
At what age does it go from flag to tackle?
How are teams selected (draft/placed by elementary school/ramdom)?
How big are the teams?
Is it a good/healthy program?

Sounds interesting.
1. Scobey
2. 6th Grade, so 11 or 12? (It used to be 4th grade for Flag Football, but since they started letting 6th graders play Jr. High the flag football program has disappeared).
3. Jr High is tackle. Grade School is Flag.
4. Flag football usually had Junior and Senior class coaches do a draft to select teams.
5. 5-7 kids for each for Flag Football team. They try to have at least 4 teams, but that might be why it died. Junior high and high school depend on class sizes. There is a reason they allow 6th graders to play up now. The high school team has around 20 players for both a Varsity and JV squad recently.
6. I think so. We aren't the powerhouse we were in the late 90's, but usually compete for the playoffs each year. Went to State in 2021, but lost to Kade Culter and Drummond. Football has definitely taken a back seat to basketball. Scobey will be the 4th seed in the East this year behind Fairview, Circle, and Culbertson. We should be good next year after only losing 2 seniors.
7. No idea. My kids are younger, so I'm not that involved yet.

Right on...thanks for taking the time. I have some Scobey roots, as my dad was born there and grew up there until moving to havre. Probably a decent chance we're related. haha.

-Lewistown
-1st Grade
-5th Grade
-We have one 5th Grade team and one 6th Grade team. They play other towns. 1st-4th is just random teams and they play locally.
-1st-4th (8-12 kids/team). 5th and 6th (as many as will go out. I think as few as 15-20 some years...close to 30 other years).
-1st-4th--ran by the city park and rec dept. It's doing good. 5th/6th--ran by parents. Healthy now but totally dependent on parent involvement.
-I think they do a good job of keeping it fun and teaching fundamentals.
-At the 5th/6th grade level we struggle with finding them competitive games.
