Crawford in the NFL?
Looking over some of the prospects at rb for the upcoming draft:
http://cfn.scout.com/2/840193.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Many of them are 5'8" - 5'10" with about the same size as crawford, and they are way slower! We all know that Crawford is durable, I don't remember him missing a single play because of injury. There have to be some teams looking at him right?

Re: Crawford in the NFL?
I certainly think he's put up the numbers to get a shot at a free agent contract. Hell of a 40 time, impressive number of bench reps, very quick times in the shuttle and cone drills, and we all know from watching him what he can do on the field to make opposing players miss.
But I found this tidbit on another draft site, which made me wonder.... will he even get a fair shot?

Overview
Productive back at the FCS level. Had a terrific senior season, rushing for over 1300 yards.
Stole the show as the lone Bobcat at the U of Montana's Pro Day putting up 24 bench reps, running 4.47/4.50, doing an amazing 6.40 3-cone, a 33" VJ, and a 9'5" broad jump.
LATE NOTE: Also performed at the UC-Berkeley Pro Day, running 4.39 and 4.44 with a 4.38 short shuttle and an 11.81 long shuttle until (reportedly) Cal Head Coach Jeff Tedford noticed he was there and asked him to leave because "we are full."
Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

What was he stealing the show from some Cal players or something? How could they ask him to leave mid workout?TIrwin24 wrote:What the hell is that about?!?CapitalCityCat wrote:Overview

The coach is doing what any program would ask of him, protecting the chances and interests of his kids. The more athletes he gets into the pros, the better it reflects on his program. He wants to see his athletes in the pros and if that means making sure that some guy from the sticks doesn't get to be seen at your workouts because he may or may not be outshining your guys so be it.
College and pro football have become very self centered and at the end of the day it is all about protecting your own interests.

More on Crawford....

San Jose State: As was the case for California’s Pro Day on Wednesday, I made the trip to San Jose to attend the Spartans’ workout. It was a very efficiently run day, a credit to both the excellent staff at San Jose State and the NFL scouts in attendance. I counted 20 teams there, represented by about 35 scouts and player personnel. On top of that, both Carolina Head Coach John Fox and new Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan were there. That’s quite an achievement for a program that not that long ago was fighting to stay alive.
The day was split into two halves, the earlier portion dedicated to players from San Jose State itself, while the latter was given over to visiting players from Cal-Poly, UC Davis, Sacramento State and a few other small schools.
The second half of the day featured a very good workout for Cal-Poly wide receiver Ramses Barden. Barden smoked his Combine 40 time with a 4.5/4.58 and had a good effort of 10’2” in the broad jump. Barden, watched closely by Panthers Coach John Fox, looked good in all his workout drills and caught the ball very well in his position workout. Another player I am curious about after his workout was Montana State running back Demetrius Crawford. Crawford looked awfully quick in his 40 with a 4.44/4.45 (I clocked him at a 4.39)and overall looked solid in his drills. While he is likely going to find it difficult to catch on in the Draft, he might carve himself out a spot late in the Draft or as a street free agent. If he gets that chance, I think he could surprise some people, though I have to look at the film on him now that I have seen him live, albeit in shorts not pads.

I can't imagine seeing his tapes will make this guy any less impressed with Crawford (as his highlight reels are very impressive) ... so if he does follow up and do more research on him, he may well become a nice advocate!

Oh so it looks like he wasn't necessarily asked to leave. Seems like it was planned. Still a very impressive workout. Good job DC.

I'm not sure which workout you're referring to, but it does appear that he was asked to leave the workout at Cal (probably because he put up more impressive stats than the Cal players). This last one I posted was at San Jose State.BDizzle wrote:Oh so it looks like he wasn't necessarily asked to leave. Seems like it was planned. Still a very impressive workout. Good job DC.
So, it looks like he's ran a 4.39, 4.44 (x2), and a 4.45 in these two workouts alone.

Re: Crawford in the NFL?
Here's a great site for NFL prospects (they have some of DC's stats updated):
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/ds ... &genpos=RB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Earlier, I posted that DC put up 24 reps at 225 lbs. at the UM Pro Day. That was better than everyone there, even all the UM linemen. At the UC Pro Day, he bettered that by pressing 27 reps. This young man is incredibly strong, quick, and intelligent. If anyone gives him a shot in the NFL, I believe they will be getting a diamond in the rough.

Re: Crawford in the NFL?
Ah ok. Sorry I didn't catch that. I wonder if maybe the Cal workout was set up the same way as the San Jose State one? He worked out for half of it. Coach asked players not from Cal to leave. Or you are right and he was just so impressive that the Cal coach was getting overprotective of his players.CapitalCityCat wrote:I'm not sure which workout you're referring to, but it does appear that he was asked to leave the workout at Cal (probably because he put up more impressive stats than the Cal players). Since the end of the season, I was hoping DC would get a spot on our staff. He is a tremendous asset to our program, it would be nice to keep him involved somehow.

Yeah but can you imagine if he went and got 6-10 solid years in the NFL and then came back and was apart of the staff! We'd have every borderline FCS/FBS running back in the country wanting to come here.... k maybe a little wishful thinking but it would still be awesome!Common Cat wrote:Since the end of the season, I was hoping DC would get a spot on our staff. I know the broncos signed a bunch or rb's this offseason but I would love to see DC in orange and blue. I think he could do great things in that system, maybe not be a star but could definitely carve out a role for himself.

Hey Nation -
I interviewed Demetrius Crawford recently and just posted it on our blog, the Tenzone.

I also included Crawford's best numbers from various pro days along side the two top running backs in this draft, Beanie Wells and Knowshon Moreno.

Re: Crawford in the NFL?
well for some strange reason the broncos took moreno with there first pick instead of a defensive player so I don't see crawford going there. I really, really don't want to see him in purple...technoCat wrote:I know the broncos signed a bunch or rb's this offseason but I would love to see DC in orange and blue. ps no knock on moreno I just think the broncos had other needs.
