Colt Anderson

Post by vike_king » Wed Aug 12, 2009 9:29 am

Listening to KFAN, a Minnesota talk radio station that does broadcasts at Vikings training camp. Paul Allen, the Vikings play by play broadcaster, just said that Colt got in trouble for tagging Percy Harvin during a light practice and sending Harvin (the Vikings #1 pick) to the injured players tent. They like the agressive play just not in these drills.

that's funy, i was reading a similar story on a blog. so far it sounds like he's doing well on special teams. everything that i have read says that he'll probably know if he's gonna make the team by their first preseason game friday. if he plays a lot of special teams that night, he has to like his chances. and if he gets on the ball, and makes some tackles, some bloggers feel it's his spot on the roster to lose. the vikes kick and punt coverage has not been too great over the last 5 or so years, so when colt got signed i had a great feeling he'd make the team. would love to see another montana kid in the league.

Exactly...it may just be camp to most of the players (especially douches like Harvin), but every day, every play is CA's superbowl. If he isn't going 100%,he will be cut.

Good on ya, Colt!

harvin will be rookie of the year. and it's pretty common practice in all camps to not level guys in camp, and especially not your number one overall pick. you don't have to like it, but it's the way it goes. coaches love the effort, but plays like that will put your smarts into question.

I think Harvin will be a complete bust, especially because of the offense the Vikings run. No way he's the ROY. If It's a RB, I think it will be Shonn Green or Knowshon Moreno. Maybe Crabtree.

Harvin should thank Colt

CA obviously took it easy on him since he was able to make it to the injured players tent and didnt have to be carted off the field and immediately sent to the hospital.

obvioulsly anything is possible but if you think he doesn't have a shot because of the vikings offense, then you don't know the vikings offense. they like to open it up more than a lot of teams, and in training camp they were working on some pretty cool stuff. harvin will return kicks, returning punts is still up in the air. he'll be our number two reciever, play some running back, and probably get a shot at throwing the ball now and then. they worked on several sets where harvin, AP, and tavaris were in a t-formation and were running some pretty crazy things! all i'm saying is he'll get more opportunities to make plays this year than many of the rookies.

Haha you guys are insane. What if last year, during the first day with pads (just helmets & should pads), some true freshman S leveled Crawford on a situation where there wasn't supposed to be full contact, or even full speed, and sent him to the locker room? Would you be applauding this guy? I sure as hell wouldn't be.

I want Colt to succeed as much as the next guy (believe it or not Griz fans), but taking a cheap shot at a teammate who isn't in full pads, & who isn't expecting a hit because it isn't part of practice that day, isn't a smart idea for anyone. Veteran guys wouldn't do this, they know better.

i talked to my uncle last night who was in mankato the duration of camp. he saw the play first hand, and said it wasn't close to a dirty play. it was careless, but not intentional. and considering colt is a rookie learning the ropes, this quick lapse in judgement isn't shocking. he also mentioned that immidiately after the play, colt and the other safety who hit harvin were the first to offer their hand and help him to his feet. colt also stood there while trainers looked over harvin, and made it very clear he was sorry. my uncle also claimed the hit itself was pretty mild, and it was just kind of a freak thing that happens sometimes on the football field. i still think colt has a place on this team, and tonight is the most important night of his life.

Yeah, I kinda rambled a bit. I was talking about ROY candiates. #-o

Didn't Harvin line up as a RB quite a bit for UF? I guess I always thought of him as a scatback/wingback/3rd down RB type, not necessarily a WR.

If another fizz fan gets on here and says CA for colt anderson, i think will puke on myself. You fizz fans are half breeds, why is it that every fizz fan thinks they know every player like they were their own brother. I bet his closest friends don't even call him CA, so why the hell are the fizz fans on this board calling him that. And as far as a dirty play, isn't a dirty play a careless play, think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #-o

well, i didn't call him CA, don't know why you quoted me. but if i did i don't know what the problem would be. i did call adrian peterson AP, but that's not becuase i think i'm friends with him. next, i'm not a griz fan. far from it. but i don't see the need to be dick just to be a dick. and last, no i don't think a careless play is a dirty play. i noticed the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in your post which indicated how serious you were. well, i really don't understand. in fact, i think carelessness is the exact opposite of dirty because i think in order to be dirty, you must intend to be. very few people intend to be careless. matter of fact, the more i read your post, the entire thing is just dumb, i'm mad at myself for responding. #-o
