I'm shocked... :^o

I always liked McGwire and still do. Sucks that his name and records are now tarnished, but at least he came clean.

Can't stand him or the Cardinals. But everybody knew he took them so this isn't much news. I wish ESPN would've said "Mark McGuire admits to steroids. DUH!" and then moved on.

Pretty much a foregone conclusion. I am not sure if it is sincere, but rather Big Mac probably sees the writing on the wall with the poor vote percentage he has received the past couple of years for the Hall of Fame. This is probably more an attempt to redeem himself in the eyes of the HOF voters. If he would have come clean in 2005 before Congress, we wouldn't even be talking about this and chances are that he would already be in the Hall.

I think he has come off as incredibly disingenuous during the interviews that he has done. For him to say that he only took performance enhancing drugs in the interest of staying healthy, rather than the "performance enhancing" benefit....give me a break!! Or that he believes he still would have hit just as many homers even he hadn't taken anything....please!! Although, in the immortal words of George Costanza "remember Jerry, if you really believe it, then it's not a lie".
