Peyton Manning

So now that Indy is no longer an option for Peyton Manning in 2012, where do you think he'll end up? What team would be the best fit for him? My pick is the New York Jets...I think they've ridden Sanchez about as far as they can, and it would be compelling on some level for the Manning brothers to play in the same city. Fans may or may not like Rex Ryan, but it seems like most of his players have liked playing for him. And they're one of the few teams out there that is a legitimate Super Bowl contender, that doesn't already having a great QB. I don't see him going to any team, such as Miami or Washington, that doesn't have a realistic shot at going to the Super Bowl in the next couple of seasons.

Maybe the jets, although Rex Ryan and Peyton Manning seems like an incompatible match.

I think Miami is the most likely place. The owner isn't shy about throwing money around, they have most of the pieces in place on defense, and a top 10 WR (Marshall) who could probably be elite with a good QB.

Plus I believe Peyton spends time in the off-season in Miami, maybe has a place there?

As a Miami fan I would be fine getting Manning though I wish they'd bite the bullet and try to get RG3. I'd be me for potentially the long term solution vs a few years fix.

Manning would make the Dolphins a instant playoff team though.

Nice, another Dolphins fan - I thought I was the only one left!

I'm not saying I want Manning, I'm just saying I do think Miami's the most likely landing spot.
I'm with you, I'd rather get a young QB. But the cost of trading up from 8 to 2 in the draft (for RG3) would likely be higher than Ireland is willing to pay.

Manning is visiting Denver today. Does he really want to get in the middle of Tebow-mania, or is this just a leverage play?

Not sure what to think about Manning in Denver. If he went there, that would probably be the one scenario that would allow the Broncos to part ways with Tebow and then draft a younger QB to develop. It would be a 2 to 3 year bandaid, but Manning would make Denver the top team in a weak AFC West. Win your division, you get a home playoff game. Get to 12 wins, quite possibly 2 home playoff games. Denver got a lot younger and better last year (and luckier). Also, Elway may have some sway with Manning. As a QB and you look to the front office for support, you may feel more comfortable knowing Elway is back there.
Interesting none the less.

My bets are on Miami followed by Arizona at a distant second.

Although a big Broncos fan, I don't see him going to a colder climate.

I've seen reports from Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson of ESPN saying the leading candidates are the Broncos & Cardinals, with Miami 3rd as of this morning(tuesday 13th).....

I also see that Miami traded Brandon Marshall to the Bears......Don't get that one.... :-k

that' s just what I"ve been reading. Off the top of my head, because he's been a head case and doesn't really believe in running great routes

Ya, the rumor on Miami blogs and fan boards is that Peyton wasn't happy about the idea of playing with a headcase like Marshall, so they traded Marshall in hopes of swaying Manning's decision in Miami's favor.
Its probably BS, as Marshall is the Dolphin's most talented offensive weapon... but that's the rumor.

I'm stunned. Once I heard about Alex Smith visiting the Dolphins, and especially since they have the same agent, I would have bet the ranch that meant Manning was headed to SF.

So what does this mean for Tebow? Do you think he'll ever get a legitimate chance at a starting job for some other team? At first glance, I think most people would say that surely some team will give him a shot. But if a team signs him with the idea of making him their starter, they're going to have to completely change their offense. I don't think anyone believes Tebow can succeed in a "conventional" pro-style offense. I think he will be far more marketable to other teams, if he is willing to consider a position change, i.e. fullback, H-back, tight end? What are your thoughts on Tebow's future?

The two I think of where he'll have the best shot are Philly and Jacksonville. Vick gets hurt enough that he will get his opportunities for playing time. That offense would benefit from his style. Jacksonville makes sense since it is essentially home for Tebow and they have had a history of mobile quarterbacks with Letwich and Garrard. Not sure how Gabbert would effect that, though.

Has Peyton passed a physical yet? If not, is it pretty much assumed he'll have no difficulities passing one?
