nfl puts hammer down...

Post by ilovethecats » Wed Mar 21, 2012 11:42 am

as a vikes fan i appreciate these punishments but it doesn't take the bad taste out of my mouth. i have never said that the cheap play by the saints lost us the game. our million turnovers and 12 players in the huddle did that job.....but it certainly didn't help. could not believe some of the crap i witnessed that day so i don't feel bad at all.

Wow, that is huge! Head coach suspended for the year, and loss of 2 high draft picks. I didn't think the league would come down so hard. I'm not saying it isn't deserved, i just didn't see this coming. Wow!

I think he should be out for good.

Vikings fans should be pissed. Had Favre not been injured he could've easily ran for a first down when he threw that pick, but no matter how close they got the Vikings would've screwed the pooch somehow, they ALWAYS have and ALWAYS will. Haha, the Vikings...what a sad team that is.

This is complete BS, its the NFL and the players were given bonuses for big plays. If they had targeted OL nobody would be getting punished. The NFL does so much to baby the QB's they should just put them in a tutu

Of course, in real life, if one person pays a second person for the specific service of injuring a third party, the first two parties end up in jail.

So in comparison to that, everybody got off pretty easy. :P

not to mention the fact that guys were being paid money in addition to their salaries for efforts on the field. illegal efforts. but just the fact that outside sources were handing over money is really terrible and opens up a HUGE can of worms. if this is ok....and nothing wrong was done, then where does it stop? can rich fans offer players money for big plays? can teams start using these practices as a means to lure free agents?

these guys messed up bad. it's pretty clear. the punishments kind of say the same.....

That audio of Williams' speech before the 49ers playoff game is stomach-turning. The NFL really does need to clean up this behavior.

I agree--my initial thoughts were that the punishments were too harsh because I feel that most likely all teams do this stuff. After this morning I agree with the punishments.

Yeah, if Gregg Williams' career wasn't over already, it almost certainly is now. I can't imagine that he will ever again be hired by any NFL team. He may not even be allowed to coach ever again in the NFL. The "indefinite" suspension just may become permanent.
