It's way too early for stats to mean anything. The Griz have played the 6th ranked team in the country (and probably the best defensive team anywhere) and another top 20 team. If we're going to throw games out before looking at stats, we should start with those games.Cledus wrote:The statistics don't bear out this claim. I haven't been paying too much attention. I know the Griz have been scoring. Won a couple quality games. Cat's won some big ones at home.
I think it'll be a dandy on 1/5/08.
What's going to be the difference maker for both teams?
The Griz have scored 66.9 and giving up 63.0. If you take out the two blowout Griz wins (Colorado State and MSU-Northern), those numbers change to 65.0 and 68.7. I thought Air Force was a top 25 team last year. That seems to be the only real quality win. To their credit, the Griz have had a decent OOC schedule.
The Cats have been a lot more consistent on the defensive side of the ball.
I'm just looking purely at statistics. Outside of the one game I've been to I can't really speak to what style both teams are most comfortable with. Based on the scoring, I would say the Cats are more of a running team while the Griz seem to be more of a ball control (*yawn*) team.
Throw all that crap out the window. It should be a good game! I know the Cats will pull it off because they will impose their will with impunity.

I wouldn't say that. There's been enough games to start to smooth out the variance. Both the Cats and the Griz (through today) have a standard deviation of 12.0 for points scored. The Cats have a standard deviation of 13.7 for points given up while the Griz have a standard deviation of 17.3. So, the Griz have been a little more erratic on the defensive side of the ball but not by a huge margin.
The stats only tell the story of what has happened and only give an indication of what will happen. They still have to play the game. I think it will be a good one.

Basketball wise I think the Griz are going for 6 InARow. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Two.
Really now. It's a bit of a stretch to call that thing you guys have "a stadium".
I, too, like MSU's chances....of staying within 25.
Yum, this brie is fantastic! But I wonder where I left the cork screw....
I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.

All right, 8 or 9 or whatever they were. Of course, the Zags were also #11 when we played them and not 19, so I'm not sure you really want to go with that argument.longhorn_22 wrote:They weren't 6 when you played them. Currently UM would probably be favored since they were picked as one of the favorites for the Big Sky. It is clear that they have a lot of talent on the team. The main question would be can Tinkle to get the most out of that talent? Will that effort consistent throughout the year?
With MSU we know that Huse is great at getting a consistent effort from the players. There will be no quit in this team and Huse is able to coach up and get everything out of the players that he has.
I think the MSU will split the series UM. I really like the fight in our team. It will take Zamora having a big game even if it just being a rebounding machine for us to win. The rest of our team is pretty consistent throughout the lineup as far as production goes.
I say that MSU wins at home by 6 pts.
