Explain why we should 'trust you' that Gurnsey was around. If it's true (and I'm not saying it is) that he didn't speak for the last several minutes of the game, that is at least circumstantial evidence that he wasn't there. What info do you have that makes it such a slam-dunk that he was there? Just curious. Seems odd that he would sit there and not speak. But even if that's the case, it's not much classier than storming out of the radio booth.GrizinWashington wrote:Is that urban legend about Gurns still around???? Man, you people will buy anything if it has the slightest anti-Griz sound to it. Trust me, Gurns was there for the entire game (and what limited roll he has in the post-game show, which typically is little to none).Old Skool Cat wrote:Ah yes, the streak-breaker! Come to find out that Gurnsey stormed out of the booth before the game had even ended! He didn't even stick around for any post-game analysis, interviews, etc. I laughed my ass off! Look, this is a ridiculous argument. However, Gurns was NOT silent during the end of the game. Believe me, I listened to the game on the internet because I was on vacation on Lanai'i and they -- quite oddly -- did not have a satellite party there. The game is burned into my memory (unfortunately), and I can promise you Gurns was there till the end, and was talking as much as an analyst does when the game is decided. I distinctly remember with about 10 seconds left Holien saying, "And the streak will end at 16". And Gurns replied, "It was an amazing run, Mick". If he wasn't talking much before that, it was probably because his face was frozen.
Incidentally, if you still believe this and would like to be proven wrong, all of the Griz games are archived. You can dig them up and listen to the entire game. I assure you you'll hear Gurns at the end.

You mean like the urban legend about Bobcat fans throwing "garbage" "at" our team in '99? I'll trust you about Gurney if you will let that one go. No one was throwing garbage at anyone, students were following a stupid trend of slinging tortillas through the air - they had to find something to get riled up about, our team was so bad that year.GrizinWashington wrote:Is that urban legend about Gurns still around???? GiW: I'm still waiting for that link to the archived Griz radio broadcats.crazycat wrote:It's archived. Why didn't you just say so in the first place? Instead of 'trust me', you could've said 'it's archived.' So now all we need is a link to the game or where it's archived. Let me know and I'll do the rest.

Hmm, they used to have them back to about 1996, but you have to look under "Archive" or something. No time now, but I'll review it when I have a moment.crazycat wrote:It doesn't appear to go back beyond last year. Am I doing something wrong? As best as I can tell it only has this year and last years games. Please advise.GrizinWashington wrote:mtgriz.com. Just like always.

Well, it appears that it just takes you on an endless loop when you click on the Archive section. It worked a few months ago, because just before Christmas, I listened to the 1996 game when Montana crushed Oregon State. If this site had a search function, I'd find a post I made a few years back where I linked to the same archives to prove they existed (sine once again, some of you apparently don't believe anything that could be positive for the Griz).crazycat wrote:It has an archive section, but when you click on previous years it say no games available.GrizinWashington wrote:Hmm, they used to have them back to about 1996, but you have to look under "Archive" or something.
