Re: Grady Bennet
Well maybe he was directing this towards the Bobcat fans. Cause I'm not sure if they do know that you get a TD by getting it across the goal line. After watching the game NOV 22nd I think the Bobcats only thought they had to get it to the 2.Cat-theotherwhitemeat wrote:You're obvious post about my obvious post was obviously nothing that we didn't already know. Delaney was the running backs coach at Colorado State under Lubick and left that program a year ago when Lubick was fired.Bleedinbluengold wrote:A bit off-topic but I swear I heard Bennett say that Mick Delaney was the running backs coach at UM...Is that true?
I was wondering if I heard him wrong, and he said Mick Dennehy, and I just heard him wrong.
For those that don't know; Delaney was fired along with Lubick from MSU and worked for Lubick for years after a brief stint in the bar business in Butte, which I assume he still owns, but don't know for sure.
Man, that would just be a helluva deal if Delaney is really working for the griz. He was a true a blue Cat as their was, and heck, even Lubick and Hysell buried the hatchet. I don't think either of those guys would work for the griz.
Delaney was at MSU as an assistant for 4 years back in the late 70's and left there when Lubick was fired and did some stints at Montana Tech and Western as coach and AD prior to that.
Delaney is one of the most sincere and upstanding individuals you would ever meet. He is a GEM!
Not sure what he is doing now, but I assume he is retired...he has to be near 62-65 years old by now.

Ummm... as stated above, he's the running backs coach for the Griz.
And I agree with you, Mick is a tremendous person.

True about Mick at UM -- he is a top shelf guy but I wouldn't say he's all true blue & gold, but he is all Montanan. He coached for the Griz before the Cats, and his son played for the Griz.Bleedinbluengold wrote:A bit off-topic but I swear I heard Bennett say that Mick Delaney was the running backs coach at UM...Is that true?

I've heard he still owns the Vu
As for Bennet -- I seem to remember him as signing with the Bobcats before defecting. May explain a lot.

Bennett actually attended MSU for a year.

Ya, I guess being fired by MSU would tend to take the Blue and Gold luster off things. I remember, now that you mention it, that he did coach at UM before he went to GFH, right?JDoub wrote:True about Mick at UM -- he is a top shelf guy but I wouldn't say he's all true blue & gold, but he is all Montanan. Bennet was on scholarship at MSU and then Earll was hired, and Grady promptly transferred to UM, and had good success. I think Grady's transfer had less to do with defection, and more to do with the fact that Earll had it in his mind that the option would kick-ass in the BSC, and Grady was not an option QB. Even though Grady is a total homer for UM, I give him a pass on transfering. That was a total botch by MSU.
Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

Re: Grady Bennet
As I recall you're dead on with the Bennet deflection when Solmonson was hired. Earl was a great guy, but what a total FU his hiring was (and it was due to a big push by some former athlete/boosters along with a spineless AD).Bleedinbluengold wrote:Ya, I guess being fired by MSU would tend to take the Blue and Gold luster off things.
