What will A.J. seed be

Post by SACCAT » Thu Mar 11, 2010 9:54 am

Just wondering what everyone thinks the seed will be for the A.J. griz. My guess is 15. I think that Weber could have been a 13-14 seed but I don't think the committee will be that kind to A.J.

it's gonna be a great tourney this year. not one team is standing out as the sure favorite to win it all. there are some mid-majors that i think will make a little noise. but like always i think there are obviously your really bad teams in as well. i will be shocked if the griz get a seed as bad as 15. that's basically saying that there are only 4 teams worse then them in the whole tourney and i think that is far from the case and the committee knows it. this team has a lot of talent, and i don't think a 13 seed is out of the question. my money says they'll be a 13 or 14.

Does the committee look at the team as a whole? If they do then the A.J. griz are a 15. If they look at what ONE player can do, then they could be a 13. From that games I have watched this year in the big sky ( close to 20) I don't think our league is that great. I don't know a TON about basketball, but the A.J. griz blew a 14 point lead in the semifinals and we all know what happened to Weber. Good teams don't do this. Remember, the A.J. griz were the 4th best team in the big sky going into the tourney.

well, they were the #4 seed....but not the 4th best team. i have said for a month now that the griz are the best team in the conference. yes, they look at the whole team, and they look at the whole team for an entire season. i normally don't bet on the griz, but i'll gladly bet you whatever you pick that the griz won't be one of the 2 worst seeds in the tourney.

My point is that, to the tourney committee, the A.J. griz were the 4th best team in a mid to low level Conference. I don't want to bet on it because I have no clue. It is just the way I see it.

well, me neither. we'll know sunday right. i do know that the committee is made up of guys with a lot of knowledge about ALL of college basketball, including the big sky conference. there will be people in that room that know that the griz are a better team than their 4 seed indicates, and as winners of 12 of their last 15 they are pretty hot right now. compared to other teams that already punched their ticket, the griz are pretty good, and play in a pretty tough conference. there are conferences way worse than the big sky, so i'd be surprised to see the committee basically say that they think the griz and the big sky or one of the 4 worst conferences in the country. i think the MAAC, MID-AMERICAN, MEAC, NORTHEAST, PATRIOT, SWAC, SOUTHERN, SUMMIT, and SUN BELT are all worse conferences than the big sky. seeing the champ from any of those leagues getting a higher seed than the griz would surprise me. not saying it can't happen...just that it'd be surprising.

I think it'll be a 14 (with a possible chance for a 13). The Griz have a better RPI than 5 or 6 teams already in the tournament (and that was prior to the win at Weber, which will help the RPI). The BSC RPI is actually better this year than it has been in years past. They have some decent wins (although maybe not as good as they looked earlier in the year: Oregon, LMU (x2), Boise, etc, with a few good losses thrown in (Washington, etc). What will hurt them is the bad loss to Eastern.

Montana's RPI is currently 95. Certainly not shabby.

ESPN Bracketology has them as a 14 facing New Mexico.

They will be a 14 if lucky and a 15 if not.

No way are they a 15 seed with an RPI of 95. I think they are a lock for a 14.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
