We now, for the first time in several years get the choice to attend either A Montana State Game or a University of Montana game. Neither one of us are alumni of either school. We have no alumni loyalty to either program. Having said this, we have attended games at both Mont State and Washington Stadium. I have to say the Cats are coming around, but as far as game day atmosphere they have a tremendous amount of space to make up when compared to the Griz. Overall, the Griz fans are more educated on the game of football (probably because they have been able to observe better ball, the last several years). Also, it appears to me that some of the Cat supporters are just on the new band wagon. They have hooked onto the program recently as a status symbol and were no where to be found during their difficult years. If Ash can stay in Bozeman and continue to build the program, someday both teams will have first class facilities and true football fans.

This guy is 100% spot on. Griz fans obviously know more about the game than Cat fans. While attending Cat/Griz in Missoula every other year I always learn something new. This is just a sampling of what those friendly Griz fans have taught me:

1. The other team never "beats the Griz". If they somehow lose, it's because they "gave the game away".

2. If any team other than the Griz has an offensive play longer than 3 yards, they are obviously "cheaters". And the drunk lady next to me will start the chant.

3. Wagriz stadium is the biggest and loudest stadium in all the world. Alabama would piss down their leg if they had to play there.

4. The Cats and Griz have "always been in the same conference, and the Griz have always dominated".

5. The Griz have WAY more Montana kids on their team and the Cats are ALL from Texas.

6. DeNarius McGhee will undoubtedly transfer to TCU before the start of next season.

I am SO thankful for these all knowing Griz fans. If not for them, I wouldn't know all these things. Thank you all so much.

Also, all Missoula cops are may grads and clearly out to get um players. UM players are ALWAYS the victims.

Must be sitting in the South endzone. I sat there for a half during the Wofford-um playoff game a couple of years ago dUMbest fans ever. They were booing and yelling at the um coaches for running the ball and getting 5-6 yards a carry.

I sat in the North end zone 2 years ago wearing an appalachian st. hat just to be a dick and cheer for appy st. It took them 3 1/2 quarters to realize I wasn't cheering for them. Clueless fans.

Or it could simply have been that no one gave two $HITS who you were rooting for.

But in any event, at least you were well accustomed to seeing the team you were rooting for lose to the GRIZ.

Don't mind jizz in wa. He is a little upset over last weeks showing...

Brody McKnight hit six field goals to lift No. 8 Montana (FCS) to a 32-7 victory over Division 2 Western Oregon on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Five of his six field goals came from within 36 yards as the Wolves (6-4, 6-1 GNAC) thwarted multiple touchdown scoring opportunity for the Grizzlies  (8-2) inside the redzone.

Western Oregon's defensive effort was led by a team season-best 18 tackles from reigning GNAC Defensive Player of the Week Devin Wells. Benjamin Merrill also came through with a career-best 13 tackles, while Scotland Foss (12) and King Manu (11) each added double-digit tackles. Bryce Peila, who came into the game ranked second in NCAA Division II in interceptions, added to his season total with a pick in the second quarter to bring his season total to eight.

Montana's defense was just too much for the Wolves. They picked off Western Oregon quarterbacks four times and held the Wolves to 221 yards of total offense.

The Grizzlies led 12-0 at the half  after McKnight connected on all four of his field goal attempts in the first half. He then put one more through the uprights early in the third quarter to give UM a 15-0 lead. The Wolves answered with their lone touchdown of the day, as Cory Bean connected with Lucas Gonsalves on a 27-yard touchdown strike, at the 9:24 mark in the third quarter. The score was set up by a 47-yard pass completion from Bean to Tyrell Williams earlier in the drive.

After seeing their lead cut to eight points the Grizzlies became angry  . They scored touchdowns on two of their next three drives to increase their lead to 29-7, and would get one more field goal for the final margin of victory (32-7).

Williams would end up leading WOU in receiving yards with 69. Gates had four catches to lead the squad. Trevor Roush had 40 yards rushing to lead the team on the ground for the second week in a row.

Peter Nguyen had 149 of Montana's 245 yards rushing to lead the team.

Western Oregon will close out the regular season next Saturday (Nov. 12) at Humboldt State in a battle for the GNAC championship. (HSU defeated Dixie State 45-30 on Saturday, Nov. 5).

I dont know if I laughed more at the original post or all of the replies. It is almost too funny to be on the smack board. Maybe the mods should make a "Gawd, I dont know if this fool thinks he is funny or insulting, but he sure isn't smart" board.

Yeah, Gus, I don't think too many Griz fans were pleased with the lackluster performance on Saturday. Kinda like you guys and UNC. The only difference is, Western Oregon would drop 45 on UNC and win by 5 touchdowns.

Aaaaaaahahahaha

Now I know for sure I should never take anything you say seriously. WOW!!! WOU lost to Grand Valley State by 24, but that's not a big surprise, since the Mighty Lakers actually received 7 votes in the latest Division II football poll. Nobody's gonna beat Grand Valley State. Talk about a powerhouse!

Good thing the grizzlies got Western Oregon at home.
