Well said! I want to see athletes from the state of Montana do well on the national level. On the other hand, if it so happens that the griz lose and restrict the griz "fans" to "We went further in the playoffs than you." for the next several months, I could live with that. The Cats have taken the "we have more Montanans on our team' argument away. The better/bigger stadium argument is going away. Let them dwell on the streak for now.livingstoncat wrote:I have no problem rooting for montana kids. My problem, year after year, is the arrogance exhibited by griz "fans" and their "birthright" regarding championships. The best part of winning Cat/griz last fall was the glorious silence all winter!!! That was the best....

Call me crazy, but I don't buy into the whole "root for Montana and the Montana kids." Did we forget all the choice works Mr. Reynolds had for MSU and Bozeman? I sure don't.gatewaycat wrote:Well said! I want to see athletes from the state of Montana do well on the national level. I was very disappointed in reynolds last year. Changed my opinion of him. This all reflects on that jackass they had coaching them.

Since you asked for it, 36-10. And your team quit. Have a good off season.MashTun wrote:Exactly....the thundering silence of griz fans was awesomelivingstoncat wrote:I have no problem rooting for montana kids. Sam Gratton is irrevelant!! A dime a dozen reciever with average speed, a non-factor!
The thing that separates him from all other recievers is his hair
His only contribution to society would be to donate his hair for a good cause!

One more reason you will never be a champion-You would rather lose to anybody than see the GRIZ prosper. Sad reflection of your entire program.KittieKop wrote:The only positive to come out of the MSU loss on Saturday is we managed to screw UM in having to travel to Sam Houston. Go BearKats - FTG. Re: A few Cat Fans.
I went and stocked up on a few orange shirts for the week!
Here's a question for you all:
"What exactly does the griz winning a playoff game or the national championship do for the Bobcat football team?"
Many of us are supporters of THE Montana State Bobcat Football Team, we do not donate our time and money to college football players who were born and raised in the state of Montana.
Finally it sounds really nice for all you griz fans to come over here and tell us how we should cheer for your team during the post season, but other than last Saturday (and only then because you wanted another home game) when do any of you cheer for us?

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: A few Cat Fans.
How exactly is that jealousy? Dhinwa continues to be an idiot, but he already knows that.
FWIW I don't hate them as much as I used to and really I only hate the idiots. If they do win, I'll be happy for my in-laws and their friends because they are not obnoxious and I care about them. The rest of you, I could give a sh!t less. Especially the idiot b!tches that were taunting our players as they were walking back to the field house. That HO train of jersey chasers have obviously been "brain washed."
I just don't see why I should pull for a team that really doesn't represent themselves or our state very well except performance on the field.
I was for them in the UNI game and that will be the last time.
I am a Bobcat and really in the Bobcat Code of Conduct it states that one should never root for the Grizzlies for if you do, your testicles will be removed.
I made this mistake one time and hopefully will be given a pardon.

I Just came up with a great idea. Since there are so many dumb A$$ Bobcat fans, that are hating the results of the Griz. I am going to charter a Bus from Bozeman to Texas for you. Show up at the rocking R at 7:00 PM and we will head to the game. There You can root for SHS. I will provide all of the past season winning game films (obviously you won't have to watch the Griz and or last Saturdays beat down), beer and snacks provided. No strings attached. See you Thursday night. My goal in doing this is to prove that all Griz fans are not idiots and maybe during the ride down I can convert a few of you to support the only Montana boys left in the tournament.

Meh. Rooting for the Big Sky at this point. We couldn't get it done, so I'll be rooting for whoever can carry the BSC banner a little farther down the road.
As I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky, I couldn't help but think to myself: "Where the @#!$ is the ceiling!"

Jealousy has nothing to do with it. I have absolutely no wish to be like the majority of Griz fans I've met here in Montana.
I came to small town Eastern Montana with no affiliations or preferences whatsoever regarding Cat-Griz. Didn't care about football and did not watch any Cat or Griz games till high school. What I did observe, however, was the fans - and as an objective bystander. Most of the Cat fans were excessively kind and humble in personality. The Griz fans, meanwhile, were hopelessly arrogant, hostile, and downright mean - hell, you could call a majority of them bullies.
I thought maybe that just the fans in my town were a**holes, and that Missoula was different - but when I spent some time in the town for the first time last year (only have just driven through before), I witnessed some very disturbing glares for wearing something so small as Cats gloves. I honestly feared that I might be mugged - and I can only imagine how fearful I would have been in a situation like the Cats win over the Griz last year. Heard some horror stories about the Griz fans' hostility following that loss.
So, back to the point - Jealousy? Really? I have no desire to invoke fear in people over a relatively unimportant game. So long as I live in Montana I will favor the Cats, but in the end I'm really just an Anti-Griz fan. Why? Because the attitude their program and fans seem to embody is one I cannot stand for.
P.S. Sorry about the rant. I'm bored. That's my excuse :p

Re: A few Cat Fans.
The reasoning behind the excuse to "root for the griz" because they have Montana kids is lame. Arizona/Arizona St have kids from Arizona and they don't root for one another. Nor does Oregon/Oregon St (both have kids from Oregon), Texas/Texas Tech/Texas A&M/Baylor(they all have kids from Texas), Florida/Florida St/Miami(all have kids from Florida), or Michigan/Michigan St(both have kids from Michigan), Oklahoma/Oklahoma St, UCLA/USC(blah blah blah). You can even say that Michigan doesn't root for Ohio State and Texas I seriously doubt roots for Oklahoma. They are all rivals just like the griz are the rival of the Cats. I'll never root for MSU-West. Even if God forbid, my son was to end up there one day. I'd root for him, but hope the team goes 0-11. Stop with the whole, "oh they have Montana kids so we should root for them" crap. By that reasoning, we should root for any school that has a Montana kid on the roster. By that logic, we should all be fans of the Stanford women's basketball team cuz Tinkle plays there. Give me a break. You want me to root for Montana kids....ok...Good Luck to Carroll College.
