Come on now...this post is boardering on the edge of ridiculous. The name calling, being picky about "we" or "they". You are not sending any better image than the one that you think you are calling out. I am a Cat fan. Been that way my whole life. You know what???? I say "we". The "Griz faithful" make this board fun and creates a ton of great discussions. If all we had to preach to was the choir, life would get pretty boring pretty quick. The view from the other side of the mountain is a very necessary part of this board.dbr4 wrote:You have to be a popmpous dork to go onto the message board of your school's rival and spout off, claiming "we" this and "we" that...
Shakermaker, go be arrogant with the rest of the jizzlienation... egriz.com son.
I enjoy the success of of both programs, but find Griz faithful like you hard to stomach.

Well, I guess your scenario hasn't happened yet... except the portion about when the cats start to lose.poorgriz wrote:In response to dbr4's comment above, that is the difference between Griz and Cat fans. When the Griz start to lose, the fans will no longer say "we", they will say "them" and "those Griz". Cat fans will always say "we", no matter how bad things get.

Agreed, that was perhaps a bit rash. However, in the context of sport, I have just always reserved the pronoun "we" for those actually involved in a team or organization, and that excludes people buying tickets. That is not to downplay their role, because after all, what would sport be without fans? A simple matter of diction, and a silly pet peeve of mine.
As far as Griz fans on here, I think its terrific, I honestly do. And believe it or not, I love seeing MT represented in the national spotlight, even by the Griz. But self-righteousness from any vantage point is obnoxious, plain and simple. It's that same kind of mentality that oozes from Notre Dame fans that makes me despise them. Don't misconstrue that; I was not likening the team in Missoula to the one in South Bend. But at times I do see a common arrogance and it's disheartening at best and disgusting at worst.
Bottom line, on most weekends, my allegiance rests with any team from MT. But I always want to see the Cats beat the Griz.

Thank you for clarifying your point. The more positive exposure anyone gets in this great state of ours is welcome. I would agree that the arrogance that some have can go a bit overboard at times. I also agree that SELF-righteousness is deplorable. Turn that self-righteousness into "CAT-rightousness" or "GRIZ-rightousness" (did I seriously just say that??), and what you got is one heck of a good rivalry. I don't think it would be nearly as fun without it. It makes it easy to "hate" the other team without hating in the true definition of the word. Even though I "hate" the griz at times, I love the spotlight that their recent success shines on some great Montana kids.dbr4 wrote:Agreed, that was perhaps a bit rash. Listen, I talk smack when it's talked. I have no ill will towards the Cats. I enjoy doing it to certain people because it gets ME pumped for the season and really makes Griz/Cat more of an emotional game.
My mother graduated from MSU and so have many of my friends. I just truly love stoking the fire... it makes the upcoming Griz/Cat game more exciting. It's fun to see the burns/insults/comebacks people have. Some of them you zing them back even worse... sometimes they zing you leaving you in your chair going DAMN... I've got nothing.
With that being said... take my posts with a grain of salt. It's all part of being a fan and I would expect nothing less from the Cats. Of course we all should have a little filter in our brain in reference to burns/insults vs plain poor taste.

Yes he did. Edwards started the game. He was 11 of 18 for 103 yards. Also rushed 11 times for 37 yards and 1 TD.Triangle Cat Fan wrote:Armanti Edwards did not play (injured shoulder) at QB
App's other QB Trey Elder finished the game.

Don't give me conditional statements on what the game is called when I have other GRIZ FANS AND ALUMNI FROM 30 YEARS AGO that say it is Cat-Griz. I'll admit I've screwed up and sat on the dark pink side twice, albeit once they were orange
Far cry from copper, gold and silver, but that would be construed as a digression, therefore, I don't wish to digress. I'll NEVER freaken sit on that side again. Period. End of discussion. Just because I wore my MSU gear to one of their games and they were playing for a championship (although Marshall actually beat themselves, but again, I digress).
The previous paragraph made no sense whatsoever. The digressions from the copper, gold and silver who choose to wear dark pink makes no sense, especially if the discussion is in Bobcat Athletics. Very few of us actually give a rats ass about how you do and only post nice things to get you to go back to work in Oregon, Washington, Arizona or wherever you've been banished to. Montana's MSU Bobcat country again and I'd like a large order of fries with that order

Moving to Smack because I tired of having to see it on the Bobcat Athletics board and after finally giving in and reading through it I mourn for the 5 minutes of my life I will never get back.

I think that was a test of wills among the moderators. None of us talked to each other about it, but I know every time I saw it on the Bobcat section I thought it probably needed to be moved, but I never brought myself to the point of actually reading it. The good news is I didn't lose 5 minutes of my life, so thanks kmax for sacrificing for the good of everyone!kmax wrote:Moving to Smack because I tired of having to see it on the Bobcat Athletics board and after finally giving in and reading through it I mourn for the 5 minutes of my life I will never get back.

You show your age with Griz fans from 30 years ago... slow to change with the times. Then again, all be it they're Griz fans and all, thirty years ago lands them in 1967... they probably saw Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and wouldn't know if it was Griz-Cat or Cat-Griz.FTG06' wrote:Don't give me conditional statements on what the game is called when I have other GRIZ FANS AND ALUMNI FROM 30 YEARS AGO that say it is Cat-Griz.
